In Leap Year, award-winning SF artist Nina Wise and long-time collaborator Annie Kunjappy attempt to ride the surging crest of the precarious present, fueled and beleaguered by memories of the past, seduced and inspired by the imagination of the future. In this work, narrative emerges from a robust physicality. It's dance, it's word jazz. It is accessible, exciting, unpredictable, and miraculously relevant to the issues of the moment. Leap Year will feature both solo and duet work.

Conversations with Barthelme:

A Festival of Adaptions of the Short Stories of Donald Barthelme

CALL FOR DIRECTORS & CHOREOGRAPHERS!

Sharpen and showcase your directing chops by applying for the Director's Lab at CRS. This inaugural lab will explore the work of National Book Award winner Donald Barthelme, master of the absurdist short story. “Donald Barthelme is the father of postmodern fiction and funny as all hell.” — Jessamyn West, Donald Barthelme's barthelmismo.

CRS will select six artists to adapt and direct one short story from Barthelme’s famed collection 60 Stories. The six works will be presented as an evening program on Friday and Saturday nights from August 8–23, 2008 in the CRS Studio Theatre. Applications are being accepted through June 9, 2008. See details below.

Each participating director will be given a stipend of $150 and limited rehearsal space as available. Ancillary events such as discussions of Barthelme's work with literary figures and post-performance Q&As will serve to raise awareness of Barthelme and generate additional attention for the festival as a whole.

コンテポラリーダンス、舞踏、パントマイム、手話、おどけたピエロをミックスした作品です。 振付師のクリスティーンコールマン が子供の頃に大好きだった不思議な世界を描いた映画、ウィリーウォンかとチョコレート工場を見事に作り直しました。　ご家族全員でお楽しみ下さい。

観客の話を”プレイバック”してくれるときは、一人が進行役で要点を明確にさせながら観客の一人から話を聞き、その人がキューを出すと、４人の役者さんが即興の劇をしてくれます。体を大きく使いながら、その人が感じたことなどを阜ｻしてくれるのですが、その気持ちが彼らを通してしっかりと伝わってきて、とても良かったです。また、音楽の方も、ちっちゃい太鼓や笛、ギター、歌、などを使って、演じる人たちと一体となって即興阜ｻをしていて、本当に感心しました。話は楽しい話悲しい話、別離や葛藤、などありましたが、演技はコミカルでかつ話す人の気持ちとその人に起こった出来事をしっかり受け止めてくれているので、おもしろく、あたたかい時をすごしました。

Big Apple Playback Theatre is an improvisational performance company that brings stories told by the audience to life using movement, text, metaphor, music and poetry. Playback Theatre is an expression of art and a vehicle for change providing ample opportunity for laughter, reflection, connection, and dialogue.

K. S. Resmiは南インドケララ州出身のクラシカルボーカリストです。彼女はドクターK. オマナクッティの優秀な弟子であり、現在はSmt. Lalitha Shivakumarと共にカルナティック音楽（南インドの伝統音楽）を、また過去に、 Sri Nelliyode Vasudevan Namboodiriからカタカリ・パダムス(ケララの伝統音楽）をも学んでいます。北インドの伝統音楽であるヒンデュスタン音楽は Sri Ramesh Narayanと共に、カルナティック・ヴィーナ（インドの撥弦楽器）においてはSmt. Kamala Lekshmiと共に学びました。
