SUMMARY:Exhibition: Beyond Prayer — Paintings by Yuko Kasahara
DESCRIPTION:CRS announces Beyond Prayer\, an exhibition of abstract paintings by Yuko Kasahara of Japan. These paintings are like a record of Yuko’s prayers for the recovery of her mind following the shock of her parents’ separate deaths by suicide. Mainly using transparent watercolors and oil pastels\, she attempts to express and dialog with her feelings of loss and separation\, to move past them to reach something timeless and always shining in herself. The exhibition will be on view from April 6 – 25\, 2017. \nMessage from Yuko Kasahara About This Exhibition \nI think I always keep praying while I’m painting. Praying is to be honest\, to affirm the expression that came from within myself\, to change without fear\, and to confirm what is important to me. This is an exhibition of work that I made while interacting with my heart in that way. These works may be like personal journals. But I feel like when I dive deeply and deeply into my heart\, I can be reaching something like a sea of universality beyond individuals. I want to go there\, I want to meet you there. While making works\, I am praying like that. \nArtist Statement \nFor me\, painting is the same as living\, praying\, and forgiving. \nMy parents’ respective suicides were very shocking events for me. Because of that\, I lost my physical and mental condition. At that time\, I could only express desperate feelings in a self-destructive way. After a long period of time when I could not cry because too painful\, I could finally cry a little. I think that the next day I was able to make a drawing — one that could not be described as a proper picture — on a notebook with a ballpoint pen. \nFrom that day\, I drew\, drew and continued drawing. \nThis process naturally came to represent abstractly the feelings coming out from inside of me that I could not express through language. I use fine drawing a lot. During those times I draw every single stroke with prayer. \nAt first\, my purpose of painting was to just breathe through my emotions. But\, I discovered the power to organize and change my thoughts through painting. When I start painting\, I dare not plan what kind of work to make. As led by colors and shapes\, I draw allowing my hand to be guided moment by moment. To not plan is\, for me\, to keep my mind open to the possibilities. I listen carefully\, honestly\, keep opening my mind. Finished works always take me to a place that I had not thought of before. I feel that I have been living in that way. \nArtist Bio \n2016  Solo show (Kyoto\, Japan) \n2015  Group show (Kyoto\, Japan) \n2013  Start abstract painting with the current style \n2002  Graduated from Osaka University of Arts \n1977  Born in Osaka\, Japan \nI lost my father when I was 17 years old. I lost my mother when I was 35 years old. They both committed suicide. \nI myself have a developmental disorder (ADHD). \nI had a difficult time since childhood because of my family environment and because of my own character. Through studying A Course In Miracles painting\, and with the support of the people around me\, I deepened my connection to “Life\,” “Universality” and “Real thing” that cannot be lost\, and I regained the power to live. \nMy motto is “Various things happen in life\, but all is OK.”

SUMMARY:The Genius of Flexibility: Level I Resistance Flexibility™ Affiliate Certification Training
DESCRIPTION:Principles of RF\, Beginner Self & Assisted RF\nThis event is open to all ages\, abilities\, and levels of experience. \nThe only prerequisite is an interest! \nThis is a great way to be introduced to Resistance Flexibility for personal or professional gain. \nTuition: $750\nSign up by April 2nd: $500\nIncludes six months of free access to The Genius of Flexibility’s Training Archive ($114 value)\nLearn more about The Genius of Flexibility’s Affiliate Certification Training \n\n\n\nAbout Resistance Flexibility\nThe Genius of Flexibility introduces the Resistance Flexibility™ (RF) training of Bob Cooley. Resistance Flexibility advances and unites physical therapy\, yoga\, personal training\, psychology\, traditional Chinese medicine\, and Genetic Personality Type theory. \nResistance Flexibility is a unique\, hands-on modality used to develop athletes and performers\, rehabilitate the severely and ordinarily injured\, and help people of all walks of life achieve their goals. Based on an original biomechanical and energetic analysis of the body and personality\, RF achieves unprecedented results. \nCourse Objective\nThis intensive is designed to introduce participants to the concepts\, principles\, and practice of RF. This includes basic self stretches\, basic assisted stretches\, mashing\, and an introduction to the physiological\, psychological\, emotional\, and spiritual upgrades that RF can facilitate. \nThis course includes lots of physical activity\, but you work at your own pace. Variations are taught for every exercise allowing people of all ages and abilities to fully participate. \nOne of the primary goals of this training is for each participant to leave knowing at least one self stretch and one assisted stretch that they are comfortable performing for each of the body’s 16 major muscle groups. \nAnother primary goal is to introduce participants to our growing community of health enthusiasts that are continually developing each other’s health through assisted stretching and the sharing of perspective. \nCourse Audience\nThe Affiliate Certification Training is designed for two categories of people: \n\nIndividuals who are interested in practicing Resistance Flexibility to accelerate their personal development\nIndividuals who are interested in becoming a certified trainer\n\nThose interested in training others professionally should know that the distinguishing feature of The Genius of Flexibility’s training programs when compared to other modalities is our priority on improving the health of the trainer before the health of the client. The true measure of success for our trainers is not what they can provide for the client\, but instead how developed they are themselves – physically\, psychologically\, emotionally\, and spiritually. We believe the trainer must first embody the changes possible through RF before they will ever be able to provide an optimal RF experience for others. This is not a program to train normal fitness professionals. \nThose interested in personal development will be provided with a powerful tool to improve all aspects of their flexibility along with community support from others who regularly practice self and assisted stretching. \nPreview of Concepts Covered\nThis course will teach you new concepts about flexibility such as… \n\nInflexibility is not caused solely by tense muscles\, but by the dense fascia and/or scar tissue that has accumulated in and around the muscles.\nYou must continuously resist and contract a muscle while lengthening it in order to exceed the tensile strength of the accumulated dense fascia which results in immediate increases in flexibility and strength.\nMost of the increases in flexibility occur when the muscle starts in a position where it is as short as possible and then lengthened\, not at the end point of the stretch where the muscle is already fully elongated.\nThe flexibility of a muscle is not just limited by its own health and ability\, but by the shortening capacity of its balancing muscle group.\nIt is commonly thought that simply weight training a muscle increases its ability to shorten\, however\, the ability of a muscle to shorten is dependent on its resistance flexibility.\nRange of motion does not equate to flexibility. True flexibility includes the health of the tissue and the muscle’s ability to continuously and fully contract concentrically\, eccentrically\, and isometrically throughout that range. Extreme range of motion is often an indicator of hyper mobility potentially leading to instability and damage of the joint structures.\nStretching is not just a physical activity\, but has direct and predictable associations with the physiological\, psychological\, emotional\, and spiritual parts of a person.\nStretching is not just a solo activity. Maximal results require the participation of others through assisted stretching.\n…and so much more!

SUMMARY:Yamuna Anatomy U — The Back
DESCRIPTION:I created Anatomy U because I believe the best way to learn about how the muscles and other soft tissue move the body is through experiencing this first hand in your own laboratory\, YOUR BODY.  Learning about muscles from a book\, or dissection does not give you the sensations live muscles CAN when they are palpated and worked from their origins to insertions\, in their natural order. \nAnatomy U makes your body your self study. You learn to feel how your muscles communicate with you and give you valuable information to be able to problem solve while feeling the interconnectedness of muscles in an area and actually far from the muscle being worked. As your body is feeling the sensation of the muscle you are working\, your mind is processing the information being received. This allows you to develop your problem solving skills in your own body and then be able to translate this if you work with other people professionally. \nAnatomy U is divided into modules and each module contains all the muscles of a specific area of the body. Let’s say you wanted to explore the muscles of your posterior leg. You would click on this segment and begin to work each muscle one at a time. After working each muscle it is suggested to observe\, feel\, and move the  part of the body the muscle is in to see what changes you feel from working the muscle. It is suggested to lie down after working a muscle to feel it and its effect on the whole body first. Then stand to feel the effects from an upright position. Next\, you choose another muscle in this module and watch how you build this body part to stand taller\, freer and with greater range of motion. \nWhat better way is there to get your body into its best working potential than to do it yourself and learn your anatomy as you go? \nPROFESSIONAL ANATOMY U TRAINING PROGRAM\nAdding this anatomy training to your practice will bring you a great tool when working with your client and patients helping them to problem solve with a visual and practical format. This anatomy program helps you to teach them how to be proactive and be part of their own problem solving journey. You will be raising the quality of your practice. People want to see\, and understand and be proactive when there is a problem in their bodies. Being able to show a person the muscles in a body part and  how to work each one enabling the person to be part of his problem solving is huge. \nWhat the Anatomy Lab will provide you: \n\nYou will learn how to work each muscle in every module from origin to insertion and really learn how these muscles feel and function through experience not book or dissection classes.\nYou will learn how to begin the problem solving journey making the determination of how to choose the next muscle to work based on : knowledge of the injury\, if any\, range of motion restriction\, where and how within the joint\, present workout\, assessing form\, function\, and restriction within the exercises where restriction is felt.\nYou will learn how to demonstrate and explain to clients which muscles to begin working on and have the ability to send them the specific muscles to be worked.\nYou will learn how to use Anatomy Lab as part of your personal training sessions with clients to start a session and demonstrate improved function when muscles are identified and awakened prior to training.\nYou will learn how to teach a group fitness class using the Anatomy U modules to educate more people at once. It is easy to offer these classes as self help offerings.\nYou will be provided with a written manual for each segment of the training to use as your anatomy guide to problem solving for yourself and your clients.\n\nFORMAT OF  ANATOMY LAB TRAININGS: \n*Each Anatomy Lab is taught in 3 days. Each module is 18 hours of study \n*Each muscle is explored within the app\, each person has time to explore how to use the program to view the muscle from every angle to best help other understand the function and location of a muscle. \n\nThe hands-on practice of using a module will be done in group studies to make sure every student can easily work the Anatomy U program\nEach participant will learn how to experientially work each muscle within the module and record the messages they receive from each muscle as it is worked.\n\n*Problem solving for each muscle is studied. \n*Understanding of  the fitness choices of  each client/patient and how to determine which order of muscles to work based on the activities most practiced by the client the client. \n\nLearn how to use the Anatomy U program during rehab to more rapidly assist rehabilitation\nQ&A sessions during the study of each muscle.

SUMMARY:CRS Sound Healing Circle
DESCRIPTION:This month\, we will practice clearing one another’s energy with rattle and drum in preparation for journeying to meet our past and future selves. Then we’ll circle up to share and receive the messages together. If there’s anything you’d like to have in your life that you feel you are not receiving\, this is the time to GIVE it. By giving\, you will realize that it was yours to give all along. \nThe fee is $20 through April 20 and $25 on April 21. \nOur purpose\, guided by our devoted study and practice of A Course in Miracles\, is to remind one another that we are one and the same\, always already perfect expressions of love. Therefore\, we will be training ourselves to look for and find such reminders in all of our visions and experiences. While the forms of our activities draw on or are adapted from various shamanic and healing traditions\, we do not seek to hold up any particular forms as essential or superior in and of themselves. Any form or experience could be used to remember who we truly are and to join with others. We will be using these particular forms simply because we enjoy them! \nCRS Co-Founder Christopher Pelham will lead the circle this month. Chris has a background in ensemble and improvisational theatre and has been studying ACIM since 2003 and offering healing and spiritual counseling since 2013. He leads the Monday night guided meditation and Healing Clinic at CRS\, teaches A Course of Love on Wednesday nights\, participates in the Tuesday night Healing Clinics and assists Yasuko in the leading of the Monday night ACIM Classes.

SUMMARY:Four Seasons in NY: Gems of Japanese Music
DESCRIPTION:CRS & Mar Creation\, Inc. invite you to discover traditional Japanese music by the acclaimed koto and shamisen player Yoko Reikano Kimura\, offered together with an exclusive taste of beautiful Japanese seasonal sweets prepared by Rin NYC. The next concert will take place on Saturday\, April 22\, 2017 at 6 pm at CRS. Tickets are $25 and include delicious wagashi (sweets). Seating is limited and advanced purchased (online\, by phone 212-677-8621\, or in person at CRS) is encouraged. \n“…Yoko Reikano Kimura\, playing the shamisen and singing\, is superb….” — New York Times \n“…Kimura’s performance on the solo shamisen was quite stunning. An elegant refined presence perfectly poised\, she played with precision\, beauty and the utmost confidence….” — San Francisco Examiner \nThis will be the third in a seasonal series of music concerts called Four Seasons in New York — Gems of Japanese Music 2016 – 17. After many centuries\, the brilliance of traditional Japanese music is still being passed on to the present day. Come and experience the sounds of koto and shamisen and enjoy the taste of the four seasons here in New York. This concert series will feature each season’s representative traditional works along with the colorful and delicate Japanese style confectionaries. The final concert in the series will be held on August 5 at 4 pm. \n\nEach season is expressed through ingredients. Spring traditionally begins with sakura (cherry blossoms)\, broccoli rabe\, strawberries and raspberries\, followed by elderflower\, rose\, edamame and sansho (Japanese pepper) in summer. As autumn approaches we’ll pick chrysanthemum\, apples\, grapes\, chestnuts and hazelnuts; and yuzu and kumquats in winter…. Even within one season\, the taste and the form change gradually from hashiri through nagori. \nmochi Rin / Bite-sized mochi dessert made with organic bean paste\, seasonally fruits and flowers in NY. \nWe present a new type of mochi that doesn’t quite exist in Japan\, by infusing New York’s locally-sourced ingredients into Japan’s popular traditional dessert —the stuffed mochi rounds\, such as daifuku and sakura-mochi — and mixing in rin\, the element of restrained grace.  http://www.rin-nyc.com \n  \n  \nMore about Yoko \nAs a frequent soloist and collaborator\, Japanese born Koto/Shamisen performer and singer Yoko Reikano Kimura has performed in NYC\, Chicago\, Tokyo\, Kyoto and many other cities\, featuring a wide-ranging repertoire from classical Japanese music to improvisational pieces. Yoko has won numerous awards including the First Prize at the prestigious 10th Kenjun Memorial National Koto Competition as the first Yamada style koto performer. She received the First Prize at the 4th Great Wall International Music Competition and the Osaka Chinese Counsel Award and won the Japanese music audition for NHK-FM radio and her solo shamisen performance was broadcasted nationally. Since then she has performed numerous koto and shamisen pieces for the radio and regularly toured internationally. \nSince Yoko moved to the US in 2010\, her mission has been to promote Japanese music to American audiences. As part of this mission she is performing and giving workshops at various venues\, such as the UN\, Merkin\, Bargemusic\, Roulette\, Princeton University\, Japan Society\, Harvard University\, Princeton University\, the New England Conservatory\, the University of Chicago\, Duke University and many others. http://www.yamadaryu.com/reikano/ \nAs part of the award-winning Duo Yumeno\, she has just released the album Flowers\, Birds\, Wind\, Moon:  The Music of Marty Regan. SUMMARY:An Evening of Messages from Spirit with Medium Pardis Partow
DESCRIPTION:Small Group Platform Mediumship Event \nWhat is a platform mediumship\, you may ask? A platform mediumship is when a medium stands up in front of an audience and delivers messages to various individuals in a group. I cordially invite you to a limited engagement at CRS in Manhattan on Tuesday\, April 25th\, 2017 from 8PM – 9:30PM for $25 per person. Please bring a friend. You are encouraged to sign up at this link as soon as possible*. \nWith Love and Light\, \nPardis \n*Please be advised that anybody under the influence of drugs or alcohol will not be admitted. This is not an appropriate place for the presence of alternative substances. \nTestimonials of my Mediumship sessions with former clients: \n“As I started this journey\, I was VERY unsure! I had never met a medium before and although I was hopeful\, I was also wary. I thought you would have a crystal ball and be wearing lots of scarves! I truly didn’t know what to expect. But let me tell you…I WAS BLOWN AWAY! Your ability to connect with my grandmother in such a fun\, honest and loving way was nothing short of AMAZING. I had no doubts that she was with us\, especially since you told me that she was wearing her favorite Ferragamo shoes! The messages I received from her through you were both powerful and simple. I have been able to take them and move myself forward knowing that is what she wanted for me. I feel more light-hearted and at peace. It has been a tremendous relief to shed the heaviness that was hanging over me after her loss. I’m able to hold onto her spirit in a loving way and it feels so freeing! You are a medium\, but truly\, you are a HEALER\, Pardis. Your gift\, your intuition and your authentic delivery has been transformative for me! THANK YOU!!!! ”\n— Wendy\n“If you could spend just 10 more minutes with a loved one who has passed on\, what would you want to hear? That they are at peace? That they love you? That you are appreciated? This\, my friend\, is exactly what I have experienced in a private reading with Pardis. And I know that you can too…” More under Mediumship Testimonials \n— Jan

SUMMARY:Exhibition: Rhythmic Continuity — Paintings by Deanna Lee
DESCRIPTION:CRS announces an exhibition of paintings by Brooklyn-based artist Deanna Lee. These paintings on view in this show\, her first solo exhibition in three years\, represent two bodies of work\, separated by several years\, which demonstrate her perpetual exploration of patterns derived from and inspired by natural forms and systems. The exhibition will be on view from May 3 – July 12\, 2017. \nArtist Statement \nMy work stems from patterns and traces of growth and decay in the natural world and the built environment. At an early age I saw electron micrographs and lab specimens\, and I am still engrossed by abstracted images of nature. I am invested in the hand-drawn line for its conveyance of individualism\, imperfection\, and fragility\, and I see my use of line as a tenuous analogy to traditional Asian ink painting. In my paintings\, drawings\, and site-specific installations\, I strive to delineate the emotional resonance that I see in forms made by natural forces. \nIn some works\, I draw masses of lines that evoke various influences: organic forms like hair\, muscles\, and fungi; natural systems such as waves and wind currents; geological strata; and topographical maps. In other works\, I use hand-drawn lines to interpret records of physical effects of nature in my immediate surroundings—like a bent window plane\, or the decaying walls in my former studio. My process includes making tracings and rubbings of surfaces like plywood and cracking plaster\, and I think of these marks as the calligraphic and quotidian signatures of the effects of nature. Resulting from impersonal forces\, such as water and gravity\, these marks record the residue of growth\, change\, and decay in ceilings\, walls\, and floors. I consider my works some personal interpretations of the material evidence of time. \nAbout Deanna Lee \nDeanna Lee was born in Carmel\, New York\, to parents who emigrated from China and Taiwan\, and she was raised in suburban Boston. After many years of classical music training on several instruments\, she received degrees in art from Oberlin College and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago\, and she studied at the Rome campus of the Tyler School of Art. \nShe has had solo exhibitions at Robert Henry Contemporary\, Wave Hill\, and PS122 in New York City; Earlville Opera House\, New York; and Artemisia Gallery\, Chicago. Her work has appeared in group shows at numerous venues\, including: The Drawing Center\, Abrons Art Center\, NURTUREart\, Trestle Projects\, Pace University\, and Schema Projects in New York City; Aron Packer Gallery\, Hyde Park Art Center\, and Jan Cicero Gallery in Chicago; SPACES in Cleveland; Maloney Gallery\, Morristown\, New Jersey; and George Mason University\, Fairfax\, Virginia. \nDeanna’s public art works include a 700-foot-long mural on bicycle path barriers in Flushing\, Queens\, commissioned by the NYC Department of Transportation; a custom design for tree guards in the Fort Greene and Clinton Hill neighborhoods of Brooklyn; and a site-specific drawing installation for a storefront window in Bay Ridge\, Brooklyn. \nShe has received a Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant\, a travel grant from the Asia Society in New York\, the BRIC Media Fellowship in Brooklyn\, the Manhattan Graphics Center Scholarship\, the Linda Kramer Fellowship in Chicago\, and two grants from the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs. She was a 2010 recipient of a Abbey Mural Fellowship from the National Academy. In 2004\, she was an artist-in-residence at the Millay Colony for the Arts\, and she was a 2012 artist-in-residence at Saltonstall Foundation for the Arts. In August 2017\, she will be an artist-in-residence at Kingsbrae Gardens in New Brunswick\, Canada. \nDeanna lives and works in Brooklyn\, New York. \nhttp://www.deannaclee.net/

SUMMARY:Yoga Workshop to Benefit Yoga Gives Back
DESCRIPTION:Manifest Your Higher Destiny with Visionary Yoga\n— A Transformational Workshop to Benefit Yoga Gives Back \n  \nYoga Gives Back and CRS invite you to join us for an open-level flow yoga class and meditation with celebrated Ayurvedic Yoga teacher & YGB Ambassador Mariko Hirakawa. \nMariko brings fun and dance-inspired fluidity to the Vinyasa yoga practice\, connecting alignment principles to the greater Life principles that help us to grow into our highest expression. \nIn this workshop\, we will use the Vinyasa Yoga as a movement meditation that puts us in touch with our Soul’s Wisdom to guide us to our Purpose. \nWe will explore the use of mudras\, meditation\, visualization\, and journaling as tools to invoke the Dreamer within and gain clarity on our Big Picture Vision. \nWhen like-minded\, growth-oriented people come together to share and support each other’s dreams\, there is a powerful confluence of energy that can accelerate our dreams’ manifestation. \nJoin our tribe of  Visionary Yogis for this transformational experience! \nFor Visionary Yogis seeking to deepen their knowledge\, create a life of balance\, and channel that energy to create something magical with their lives… \n100% of the proceeds go to the Yoga Gives Back NPO supporting mothers and children in India. YGB Founder Kayoko Mitsumatsu will present a short YGB Film illustrating how these benefit classes are improving the lives of many mothers and children in India. Sponsors include ZICO Coconut Water\, LARABAR and more! Registration is $35 in advance and $45 at the door. \nMariko Hirakawa is an internationally known Yoga-Ayurveda Expert with over 20 years of teaching experience. A former professional dancer as well as an Ayurvedic physician trained in India\, she is one of the very few in the West to have completed the rigorous 5 ½ year B.A.M.S. degree in India. Healer\, yogini\, and a performerwith multi-cultural background\, Mariko is known for the quality and depth she brings to her work. http://www.ayurvedayogapractice.com \n \nMariko is a yoga instructor’s instructor. She’s the best one I’ve had. She’s passionate\, precise\, friendly\, and very calming. In her class you feel energized and rejuvenated. \n\n\n\nYoga Gives Back is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness and funds in order to alleviate poverty in India. We started in Los Angeles in 2007\, determined to find a way for the global yoga community to help the poorest people in the country that gave birth to YOGA. YGB partners with local NGOs NISHTHA in West Bengal and Deenbandhu Trust in Karnataka. In the last ten years\, YGB has grown to fund over 1100 mothers and children with micro loan programs and education funds with a minimum of five-year commitment to each person. http://yogagivesback.org \nI support Yoga Gives Back wholeheartedly because I have first-hand experience witnessing how hard the mothers in the lower class of Indian society work to support their families. \nAll in all\, I have spent about 10 years living in various parts of India\, and although I have had the privilege of being around great Yogis and Masters\, scholars and wise beings\, I truly feel the greatest lesson I received in India is from watching the sincere\, cheerful\, hard work that these people offer\, day in and day out. \nBy connecting Yoga practitioners in the West with these deserving women of India\, Yoga Gives Back creates awareness of the greater purpose of Yoga\, of Yoga with a capital “Y\,” Yoga that is generous and healing\, compassionate and truly transformative – the Yoga that is the original gift of the enlightened rishis (sages) of India. \nI firmly believe that spirituality must be grounded in the practicalities of the world today. Yoga Gives Back allows us to participate in the sacred activism that is grounded in Dharma. It transforms our practice into deep\, universal prayer as we create positive socio-economic impact. \nWhat an empowering feeling for everyone involved!  — Mariko Hirakawa

SUMMARY:#EMERGINGPROUD film screening
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to announce the NYC premiere screening of #EmergingProud (dir. by Katie Mottram\, 2016) with a special performance by the film’s featured musician Eddie Shiffler of Dogz of Zeus. The screening will be followed by a discussion on spiritual emergence with NYC-based holistic psychotherapist and transpersonal researcher\, Katrina Michelle\, PhD(c)\, LCSW. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. \nThe film was created from numerous video blogs of personal stories and interviews featuring people all around the world #emergingproud and talking openly about their own transformation experiences\, many of whom were labelled as mentally ill. \n#EmergingProud is a grassroots social movement aiming to re-frame ‘Madness’ as a catalyst for positive transformation. The launch of International #Emerging Proud day on Friday 12th May aims to expand the public perception of ‘normal’ all over the world. https://emergingproud.com \nDirector Katie Mottram is an international speaker working to normalize spiritual experiences in the mental health system. She worked in the mental health system when she ‘woke up’ to her spiritual self\, and ironically she had to seek support outside of that system in order not to have my experiences pathologised. \n“I now know that what I experienced was a spiritual emergence\, and although it’s actually very common\, it is hugely misunderstood within the Western cultural framework. Thankfully\, because I was able to frame my crisis in a more empowering way\, it has been transformative for me and has ignited a huge passion to support others who may not have been so lucky in finding such a helpful framework for understanding their own distress.” — Katie Mottram \n\n“I have been a singer/songwriter my entire life.  My mother died when I was six weeks old at the amusement park\, Great Adventure\, on a roller coaster.  Ever since that moment\, I have had a connection to the spiritual realm.  I evolved through the years through many great teachers.  When I was eighteen years old\, I was in a bad mental state.  A friend introduced me to some writings.  I attempted the meditation techniques within the book\, and to my surprise\, I went through an out of body experience in a very real and literal sense.  I flew above my body\, looked back down and zoomed through the floor\, into an underground tunnel.  I was floating down a stream\, with roots hanging down into the subterranean cavity.  I could hear thousands of voices\, in which many started to converge into a single question: “Who is Eddie Shiffler?”  At the end of the tunnel was a light.  The voices began to unnerve me\, so I imposed my will upon the situation and declared\, “I AM!”  At that moment\, I began to lose the ability to continue down the stream\, and soon returned to my body\, feeling exhausted and electrically twitching.  It was the last time I ever questioned the existence of my soul.” — musician Eddie Shiffler of Dogz of Zeus \n\n#Emerging Proud is ultimately a campaign about providing hope; that breaking down does not mean we are broken; it means that we can be amidst a difficult journey to ‘breakthrough’. In the same way that the caterpillar completely dissolves before emerging as a butterfly from its chrysalis\, the human ‘emergence’ process can look exactly the same. #Emerging Proud aims to add to the voices aiming to create a society in which it feels safer to speak out about our extreme experiences without fear of being told there is something wrong with us\, or that we are “crazy”. \n #Emerging Proud acknowledges\, in equal measure\, both the extreme crisis and positive transformation potential contained in the ‘emergence’ process; what we consider important\, is to shift the focus away from something being ‘wrong’\, to the growth potential\, deep meaning and wisdom psychological trauma can contain. \nInternational Emerging Proud Day is dedicated to exploring the potentialities of spiritual experiences and psychological crises and reconsidering the impact of the current diagnostic medical model. Please join us for this paradigm-shifting\, community-building event.

SUMMARY:Kakko-chan Festival — Katsuko Yamamoto Lecture
DESCRIPTION:It is unbearable for me to think that you have thoughts but cannot communicate to others\, even for as short as one second. I have worked in special needs schools for a long time. Consequently I have learnt through my children with special needs that\, even if one looks unconscious\, everyone has feelings and thoughts. And what is more\, they can hear\, see\, and understand everything. Another thing they have taught me is that the human body and brain have tremendous powers of recovery. If you do not give up\, communication is possible and they will be able to recover. I think it is very true. \nHowever\, I am afraid that it is not common knowledge in our society. It is unbearable for me to think that some patients cannot communicate\, and have to give up the recovery process\, only because the carers do not have the information and know how. \n— Katsuko Yamamoto\, Author and Special Needs School Teacher \nKatsuko Yamamoto Films\, Lectures & Dinner Reception \nKatsuko “Kakko-chan” Yamamoto\, the subject of the documentary film\, “Miracle of the Gifted Quarter\,” is coming to New York to give lectures and present her films at “The Kakko-chan Festival.” While “Miracle of the gifted Quarter” has had showings many times at CRS and in NY\, Kakko-chan will introduce some of her other films\, along with accompanying lectures. \nKakko-chan was trained as a special education teacher\, and she is someone who can easily connect with each student to find their abilities and draw them out.
SUMMARY:CRS Sound Healing Circle
DESCRIPTION:The Arapaho Indians call this month the time “when the ponies shed their shaggy hair.” Let’s try to shed our shaggy thoughts! We welcome back CRS Healer Miyoko to lead us through another crystal bowl meditation. From that place of peace we’ll journey\, dance with our power animals\, shimmy and shake and sweat our tears\, leave behind any burdens we no longer wish to bear\, and return ready for spring. \nThe fee is $20 through May 18 and $25 on May 19. \n \nOur purpose\, guided by our devoted study and practice of A Course in Miracles\, is to remind one another that we are one and the same\, always already perfect expressions of love.

SUMMARY:Kabbalah Introductory Lecture
DESCRIPTION:What people say after attending this lecture\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“I am finally receiving the answers I couldn’t get anywhere else\, and in a powerful and loving environment.”\nKaren\, Los Angeles  \n“Kabbalah taught me about my inner self\, the world around me\, and how all is connected. This is not a religion\, but a precise science.”\nKabbalah Student \n“I am now part of a Kabbalah family and will encourage anyone with an open mind to have a closer look at this ancient wisdom.”\nDaniel Gertisikov\, San Francisco \n“Instructors and students at the Kabbalah Campus created together a beautiful learning environment to explore some of the most profound revelations of existence.”\nKerry Berkowitz\, San Francisco \n“I received answers to questions I have had since childhood.
