SUMMARY:Everyday is A Pig’s Birthday
DESCRIPTION:Continuing our support of Dreamborne Theater Company\, we’re delighted to invite you to their next world premiere\, the dance-theater work Everyday is A Pig’s Birthday\, written and directed by Tara P. Nyingjè 寜婕. Performances will take place at 7:30 pm on July 17\, 2026\, and at 2:30 pm and 7:30 pm on July 18\, 2026\, at Triskelion Arts\, 106 Calyer Street\, Greenpoint\, Brooklyn\, NY. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door. \nEveryday Is a Pig’s Birthday is a dance-theatre work about birthdays and the strange effort of trying to make another person feel cared for. \nThe piece follows a recurring birthday party that keeps returning in slightly different forms. People sing\, prepare cakes\, relight candles\, put on hats\, and try again. Some guests want the celebration to last forever. Others seem desperate for it to end. \nAs the performance repeats and shifts\, small gestures begin to feel heavier. A birthday becomes less about celebration and more about the uncomfortable distance between people trying to reach one another. \nIn Everyday is A Pig’s Birthday\, the birthday party is a repeated social ritual through which care\, intimacy\, and alienation are continuously intertwined. The work inhabits a temporality where celebration never fully arrives nor disappears\, but is transformed into a choreography of memory\, longing\, and fragile connection. \nAt once playful and quietly lonely\, Everyday is A Pig’s Birthday invites audiences into a world of flying pigs\, melting ice cream\, failed parties\, and celebrations that never fully settle into place. \nPlaywright and Director Tara P. Nyingjè is a New York–based theater-maker and arts administrator. She currently serves as Managing Director of Dreamborne Theater Inc.\, where she oversees organizational strategy\, operations\, and public-facing programs\, supporting artist-led productions and long-term institutional development. With experience spanning Off-Off and Off-Broadway theater\, touring productions\, and public cultural events\, Tara has overseen projects across multiple venues and partner institutions\, including her original works such as Qingbai: Innocence\, Bond\, Trapped in the Flash\, and angels\,. Her work bridges artistic vision with organizational structure to support sustainable\, public-facing artistic work. She holds a BFA in Drama from NYU Tisch School of the Arts. \nhttps://www.taranyingje.com/ \nhttps://www.instagram.com/taranje_/ \nDreamborne Theater is a New York-based nonprofit performance collective committed to developing and presenting cross-cultural performing arts rooted in dreams\, myth\, and memory. Through ritualistic and fantastical works\, they investigate the evolving nature of identity\, language\, and culture—embracing the fragmented self as a space of transformation\, rebirth\, and fairy tale. Alongside their artistic productions\, they offer educational programs that empower individuals to engage with myth and ritual as creative tools for self-discovery and collective storytelling. \nhttps://dreambornetheater.org/ \nhttps://www.instagram.com/dreamborne_theater/

SUMMARY:KOTOHOGI まにまに (MANIMANI)
DESCRIPTION:One — as it flows\nOne body alone\, chopsticks broken apart — heaven\, or a trickster spirit?\nBorne on the wind\, slipping quietly into night — nectar of sweet dew\nWithout raising a voice — sound scattering into the boundless \nCRS is pleased to continue its support of KOTOHOGI\, the ongoing interdisciplinary collaboration of choreographer and dancer Yuko Kaseki\, sumi calligrapher and logograph artist Kanako Sehara\, and performance and vocal artist Miho Tsujii. \nThe newest iteration\, KOTOHOGI まにまに (MANIMANI)\, takes place at the historic Isshinji Temple in Osaka. Responding to the cultural and spiritual context of the temple and the season of Obon\, the three artists bring together butoh\, performance\, voice\, and sumi calligraphy in a site-responsive exploration of memory\, ritual\, transformation\, and the circulation of life. \nKOTOHOGI has developed since 2022 through an ongoing collaboration among artists based in Japan and Germany. Each iteration emerges through dialogue with a particular place and its communities\, bringing different artistic traditions together to explore relationships among body\, landscape\, memory\, and regenerative knowledge. The Japanese word kotohogi carries the intertwined meanings of blessing and incantation\, reflecting the project’s interest in transformations between destruction and regeneration\, negativity and affirmation\, decline and celebration. \nCRS is an ongoing supporter of KOTOHOGI and its continuing collaborative artistic development. \nEvent Information\n\n\n\nDate: Sunday\, August 23\, 2026\nDoors: 1:00 pm\nPerformance: 1:30 pm\nLocation: Isshinji Temple — Sanzenbutsudo\, Minami Kaisho\, Osaka\, Japan\nAdmission: ¥3\,000 advance / ¥3\,500 at the door / Free for elementary school students and younger\nTickets: https://tiget.net/events/504806\nPresented by: International Culture & Art Spot (ICAS)\n\n\n\n\nProject: KOTOHOGI\nCo-organized by: cokaseki\nVenue Partner: Isshinji Temple\n\nArtists\nYuko Kaseki\nYuko Kaseki is a Berlin-based butoh dancer\, choreographer and performer\, and founder of cokaseki.
