SUMMARY:Healing Circle
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our next Healing Circle and spirit journey! This is a time of balancing of masculine and feminine energies and of head and heart.  As the harvest draws to a close\, let’s reflect on how we’ve grown during the preceding year. We’ll journey again to the lower realm and this time seek the guidance from the Heart of the Earth itself about how to retrieve and re-integrate any masculine or feminine energies we may have set aside for safe keeping during our growing process. \nWe’ll finish with a glass of wine and whatever munchies YOU bring to share — social time! \nWalk-ins are welcome as long as there is room but if you know you will be coming\, please sign up in advance — and perhaps bring something fresh and yummy to share to celebrate the fall harvest! Registration is $20. \nYou might want to bring pen and paper for taking notes. No previous experience is required and the circles are open. While we hope you will fill inspired to regularly share your shining spirit with this spiritual community\, you are welcome to attend without any intention of returning. \nOur purpose\, guided by our devoted study and practice of A Course in Miracles\, is to remind one another that we are one and the same\, always already perfect expressions of love. Therefore\, we will be training ourselves to look for and find such reminders in all of our visions and experiences. While the forms of our activities draw on or are adapted from various shamanic and healing traditions\, we do not seek to hold up any particular forms as essential or superior in and of themselves. Any form or experience could be used to remember who we truly are and to join with others. We will be using these particular forms simply because we enjoy them! \n***************************************************************** \nOur mission is to help you to discover\, develop\, and use your gift\, and to appreciate the joy of sharing it. We opened CRS with the help of a community of healers\, seekers\, and artists\, many of whom had come from other countries looking for inspiration\, Together\, we offer a prayer to help one another. \nCRS Co-Founder Christopher Pelham has a background in ensemble and improvisational theatre and has been studying ACIM since 2003 and offering healing and spiritual counseling since 2013. He leads the Monday night guided meditation and Healing Clinic at CRS\, teaches A Course of Love on Wednesday nights\, participates in the Tuesday night Healing Clinics and assists Yasuko in the leading of the Monday night ACIM Classes.

SUMMARY:Film Screening "SWITCH" and Talk by Fumiko Irie
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to screen the Japanese documentary “Switch\,” a touching documentary about the research of Dr. Kazuo Murakami\, a scientist in pursuit of mankind’s unlimited potential\, and the lives of people who have “switched on” their genes. Following the screening there will be a meet and greet with cast member and fellow filmmaker Fumiko Irie followed by a talk in Japanese with Ms. Irie. \nThe film\, written\, produced and directed by Naoki Suzuki\, was released in 2011 and runs 80′ in Japanese with English subtitles. “SWITCH” was screened at the NY Independent Film Festival 2013\, and this will be the second opportunity to see it in the Greater NY area. \nHuman genes are said to contain information that would fill approximately 3\,200 encyclopedia volumes with 1\,000 pages each and 1\,000 characters per page. Research results from various sources\, however\, have revealed that we use only a small percentage of the information in our lifetime. Dr. Kazuo Murakami\, a world authority on biotechnology\, says that humans can have unlimited potential if they switch on their genes. So how can we switch on our genes? In this film\, the secret is unveiled through astonishing examples of people who succeeded in switching on their genes. \nTickets for the movie and talk by Fumiko Irie are $30\, and for the movie only are $20. Cash only at the door. \nDoor Open 10:15 am\nEvent Start 10:30 am\nMovie Screening starts 10:40 am\nYumiko Irie Talk starts 12:15 pm\nEvent ends 1:30 pm \nFor reservations\, please email:\nwelcome@hesodo.com （Please send an e-mail with title “CRS movie screening” along with your name\, number of people attending\, cell phone #). \nInquiries: 626-353-4104 (Yoshiko Nakamura / \, +81 70-5346-7646 (Hamada/Fumiko Irie Office in Japan） \nMore About the Film \nSee the trailer: \n\n\n\nLove and laughter can switch on our genes. A lot of people were killed or injured in the 2005 Amagasaki rail crash. Junko Suzuki\, one of the victims\, suffered severe brain injuries while in the second car of the train\, which was reported to have been the most seriously damaged. Nevertheless\, she recovered remarkably with the love and support of her mother Momoko and other family members. You’ll learn the mystery of how love and laughter switched on Junko’s genes. \nA “mission can switch on our genes. Another story is about a woman who discovered her mission after her life hit rock bottom. Her child had severe atopic dermatitis\, her husband’s company went bankrupt\, and she herself had a miscarriage. That woman is Fumiko Irie\, director of the lm e Miracle of the Gifted Quarter. She used to be an ordinary housewife\, so what on earth happened? You’ll discover the secret of her energy as she works tirelessly to ful ll her mission: creating lms that lead people to be more thankful. \nAbout Dr. Kazuo Murakami \nDr. Murakami was born in 1936\, and he is currently Professor Emeritus at the University of Tsukuba. In 1963\, he obtained a Doctorate of Agricultural Chemistry from the Graduate School of Agriculture at Kyoto University and then became a researcher at Oregon Health & Science University. In 1976\, he started working as an assistant professor at Vanderbilt University. He was appointed Professor of Applied Biochemistry at Tsukuba University in 1978\, where he began genetic research. In 1983\, he decoded the enzyme “renin” in humans\, a key factor in the development of high blood pressure\, attracting global attention. In 1996\, he won the Japan Academy Prize. \nAbout Fumiko Irie \nStarting off as a fashion designer\, she became a professional aroma therapist and began teaching aroma therapy. After various experiences in her life\, she happened to get inspired to produce a film so as to fill the universe with gratitude and that being her mission in life. She did everything such as shooting\, interview\, editing video\, writing a song for the ending song and singing it herself to create the film. The title is “The Miracle of the Gifted Quarter – Life’s Truth revealed”\, which contains many scenes in which Katsuko Yamamoto\, a teacher at a special-needs school\, communicates with students. \nWithin two years after the completion of the film\, it spread abroad with English subtitles. And a hundred and twenty thousands people watched it by the end of 2011. It was invited to the Japan Film Festival in Los Angeles and received a standing ovation at a screening in Columbia University\, which is the summit of video technique. \nShe completed the second film “The Miracle of the Colored Light” in 2008\, and also completed the third film “A Great Blessing” in 2011. On the same year she also appeared on a Murakami\, Kazuo film “Switch” by Suzuki Naoki. \nOn the National Human Rights Day in 2013\, “The Miracle of the Gifted Quarter” got played at the headquarters of the United Nations in New York. In total\, the film has been played at 1800 places in 18 different countries and has reached 180\,000 viewers. \nShe has also released her own books “The Miracle of the Gifted Quarter\, Life’s Truth” on Sunmark Publication and has also collaborated with A children’s book author Nobumi on a picture book “Oheso No Saki” and “Giving Creates More?” on Shichida Education Publication. In 2014 she released her second book “Hesodo~ Taking a Look Into the Universe~ Finding a Mission” also on Sunmark Publication. \nNow she runs workshops all over the world on what she developed\, “Hesodo.”

SUMMARY:Film Screening: Sympathy for the Troops
DESCRIPTION:Omoiyari Yosan (“Sympathy Budget”) is a popular Japanese term for funds provided by Japan as host nation support for the U.S. forces stationed in Japan. Although the Omoiyari budget is not mandated under the U.S.-Japan Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA)\, the Japanese government has been paying more than $60 billion out of its taxpayers’ money since 1978\, $150\,000 a soldier per year. Most of the funds are paid in order to support the luxurious life of U.S. military personnel in Japan. This comical movie was made by an American who has resided in Japan for more than 20 years\, simply to explore\, IS IT REALLY WORTH IT? \nTo make a reservation\, RSVP at zaomoioyarinyc@gmail.com \nMovie home page:\nhttps://zaomoiyari.com

SUMMARY:“The Poison Garden of The Mighty Dead” Weekend Intensive With Christopher Penczak
DESCRIPTION:The Mighty Dead are the enlightened ancestors of Witchcraft\, Magick and Shamanism\, those who have walked the path before us and lead the way. They are teachers\, healers\, guides and masters dancing at the eternal sabbat found in dream\, myth and vision. There they tend the garden of plant spirit familiars\, the poisonous plants that teach us the mysteries of life and rebirth. They are the classic plants of the Witch’s Flying Ointment – Belladonna\, Datura\, Henbane\, Hellebore\, Hemlock\, Monkshood and Mandrake. These plant spirits initiate us in the ways of Witchcraft\, and to fly forth in vision to and from the sabbat grove. Experience the seven gates of the Underworld with their seven plant teachers and initiators. Learn about the nature of the Soul from the Witch’s perspective. Each one offers a key to go deeper into spirit. Experience each one in guided vision and ritual\, using safely prepared essences\, remedies and ointments to add to the magic. Seek the Master of the Sabbat who is the Three Faced Lord\, and the Green Man\, as well as the Goddess of Fate and the Lady of Flowers. Drawn from the books The Plant Spirit Familiar (2012) and The Mighty Dead (2013).  Please bring a small cup or chalice. \nChristopher Penczak is a Witch\, teacher\, writer and healing practitioner. His practice draws upon the foundation of both modern and traditional Witchcraft blended with the wisdom of mystical traditions from across the globe as a practitioner and teacher of shamanism\, tarot\, Reiki healing\, herbalism\, astrology and Qabalah. He is the founder of the Temple of Witchcraft tradition and system of magickal training based upon the material of his books and classes. He is an ordained minister primarily serving the New Hampshire and Massachusetts pagan and metaphysical communities through public rituals\, private counsel and teaching\, though he travels extensively teaching throughout the United States.

SUMMARY:Metamorphosis
DESCRIPTION:CRS (Center for Remembering & Sharing) announces Metamorphosis\, an exhibition of fiber art created on SAORI loom by Nobu. The exhibition opens on October 6 and will remain on view through November 30\, 2016. \nThere will be an Opening Reception with the artist and SAORI weaving demonstration on October 22\, 2016 from 5 – 7 pm. A 20′ documentary about SAORI will be shown at 5:30 pm\, followed by a brief talk by Loop of the Loom Founder Yukako Satone introducing the SAORI ARTS NYC non-profit organization (saoriartsnyc.org). \nThis\, the second exhibition of SAORI fiber art at CRS\, aims to demonstrate the potential for using the SAORI therapeutic approach to weaving to explore one’s emotional and creative impulses deeply enough to create works of striking imagination\, originality and visceral impact that can be appreciated as art and serve as a vehicle for liberation for both creator and viewer. \nSAORI is a contemporary hand weaving method founded by Misao Jo (1913-\, Japan) in 1969. She started weaving when she was 57 years old and created her own easy-to-use-immediately loom and style\, free from the traditional concept and rules of weaving. She named her weaving style ‘SAORI’ and because the loom is so easy to use\, it allows anyone to express his or her self freely regardless of age\, gender\, disability or intellectual aptitude. In Zen vocabulary\, SAORI is the combination of the words SA\, meaning everything has its own individual dignity\, and ORI\, meaning weaving. \n“In SAORI\, we try not to imitate machine-made products\, and we always try to do what only human beings can do. No two weavings are alike\, and it is very natural that every single cloth freely woven by people with different personalities is beautiful in a different way. The irregular selvage and accidental skip of thread add the unprogrammed beauty to the SAORI cloths; and we admire this irregularity as ‘the beauty with lack of intentions’ created by our natural creativity.”\n— loopoftheloom.com \nSince 2004 Nobu has been active in the NYC SAORI community and and at the studio\, Loop of the Loom\, under the direction of Yukako Satone. She is a SAORI certified instructor and SAORI healing artist. During this time she has learned to use SAORI as a meditative practice to observe her inner mental and emotional state. Her commitment to the practice has freed her to allow her deepest impulses to intuitively guide her selection and manipulation of the threads. \nWhile SAORI celebrates beauty in the imperfect\, a characteristic commonly found in Japanese traditional aesthetics\, SAORI works and Nobu’s work in particular embrace improvisation and veer so far in their wildness and irregularity from traditional woven fabrics and garments that western viewers may be more inclined to place them in the abstract expressionist tradition. Rebellious and highly idiosyncratic\, Nobu’s creations burst with energy\, not an easy effect for yarn to achieve. Is the yarn imbued by Nobu with energy or is the energy already inherent within — SA\, individual dignity — simply being made palpable? Nobu’s works raise many questions without offering definitive answers or explicit meanings. They invite the viewer to feel rather than think and allow her feelings to give rise to authentic creative impulses of her own. By encouraging viewers to accept and express their own inspirations\, Nobu’s work celebrates a way of living with constant transformation of our idea of who we are\, free of self-definition and self-limitation. \nABOUT NOBU \nNobu was born in Kamakura City and lived right in front of Kanagawa Modern Museum. During her elementary school years\, she loved to visit the museum and even explored neighborhood galleries on her own. After winning an international student art competition and showing great promise\, her mother offered to send her to art school\, but Nobu instead chose to study economics at Rikkyo University. \nFor eight years after college\, Nobu worked in the fashion industry and after moving to New York with her husband\, himself a talented interior architectural designer\, she planned to open a wedding design business\, but the birth of her son led her to change directions once again. When her son turned five\, they attended a SAORI weaving workshop at CRS\, sparking her interest in fiber arts. A reunion last year with her school friend\, Yoh\, whom she found had begun painting again\, inspired her to throw herself back into it. She began training regularly at Yukako Satone’s SAORI studio uptown and soon began to develop her own style. \nPrevious Exhibitions \n2011 “Re –Birth“ was Nobu’s first exhibition\, held at CRS in New York City in March \n2012 Exhibited “All” at The Sheep Palette in Kyoto\, Japan \n2012 Exhibited “Soul Journey“ at excy gallery in New York City in October \n2012 Solo exhibition “Cocoon” in Yushima\, Tokyo \n2015 Exhibited “Deep and Deep\, Gucha Gucha” at The Sheep Palette in Kyoto\, Japan \n2015 the Loop of the Loom group show at the Tenri Gallery in New York City in April

SUMMARY:Harvest Moon Healing Circle
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our September “Harvest Moon” Healing Circle and spirit journey! We’ll begin with a meditation/prayer to set our intention to recognize and “harvest” our life’s many blessings. Then we’ll journey to the beat of the drum to the spirit world to request and receive guidance about how to do so. \nCRS is a healing center. Our healing is based on A Course in Miracles (ACIM). ACIM says that salvation occurs when you are with your brother. When you know the truth about your brother\, you will know the truth of who you truly are\, because you will recognize that you and your brother are actually one\, always already perfect expressions of love. Recognizing this truth is the only way to experience peace. \nCRS is also an event space and art center. We offer support to those who bear witness to the truth\, which is something that everyone is capable of doing and sharing. CRS is a safe space where you can know yourself\, be yourself\, and express yourself honestly without being judged. We wish you to extend and share your creative spirit more and more and to experience more and more joy. \nCRS Founder Yasuko Kasaki is the author of 15 books in Japanese about A Course in Miracles\, as well as numerous novels and collections of photographs\, short stories and essays. Her translations of the ACIM Workbook as well as books by ACIM writers Jon Mundy\, Gabrielle Bernstein and David Hoffmeister and works by poet Maya Angelou and others have also been published in Japan. She is currently translating Mari Perron’s A Course of Love and the ACIM Original Edition into Japanese for publisher Natural Spirit. She has been offering spiritual counseling\, reading\, instruction and healing to individuals and groups since 1999. In 2004 she and partner Christopher Pelham founded CRS (Center for Remembering & Sharing)\, the first and only spiritual center devoted to the teaching and practice of ACIM in New York City. In addition to teaching weekly classes at CRS\, Yasuko travels several times a year to Japan where she teaches seminars organized by the vibrant community of study groups established by her students\, by International Beauty Foundation for which she is a board member and columnist\, and with other leading lecturers and healers.

SUMMARY:Awakening the Senses Session #1: A Creative Writing Workshop
DESCRIPTION:You are a writer.\nWords turn you on.\nYou wait for words to brush against each other and make beautiful sounds.\nYou roll words on your tongue and taste them.\nYou have ideas and stories dancing inside your belly. \nWhat if turning those ideas into words on the page made you swoon in pleasure instead of break out in hives? What if you wrote with your whole body and not simply from your head? What if you craved to meet the blank page again and again to write out your truths? \nIntrigued?\nLet’s write together in “Awakening the Senses: A Creative Writing Workshop.” This writing workshop series invites you to embark on a magical journey to awaken your senses\, unleash your creativity and infuse life into your writing. \nAwakening the Senses–Session #1: Taste \nTongue. Fleshy\, muscular\, wet. We use it to roll the pit of a fruit or push out words from the back of our throats. In this workshop\, we will awaken the sense of taste to feast on our life experiences and write from a satiated state! Will the stories be sweet\, salty\, bitter or savory? Let’s find out! \nWhat to Bring: Writing Tools. Comfortable Clothing. Trust. Vulnerability. Imagination. Openness.

SUMMARY:Film Screening: Prenatal Memories of Children
DESCRIPTION:Yoshiko Nakamura and CRS (Center for Remembering & Sharing) invite you to screen and discuss the documentary “Prenatal Memories of Children” (2016\, 94’ in Japanese w/ English subtitles) by director Norio Ogikubo. Whether you are skeptical of prenatal memories or not\, you might be deeply inspired and even healed by the thoughts shared by the children in this film and by the commitment of the adults to listen to\, respect and learn from the children. \nScreenings will be held on August 20\, 2016 at 1:15 and 4:15 pm. The film will be introduced by CRS Founder Yasuko Kasaki and Yoshiko Nakamura will lead a Skype chat and Q&A with director Norio Ogikubo. Tickets are $20 and are available online\, by phone (212) 677-8621\, and at CRS. \nOriginally released in 2013\, the film has just been updated and re-released with a new ending. This is the world premiere of the new version with English subtitles. \nCast: Akira Ikekawa\, Masayuki Ohkado\, Yumiko Tobitani\,  Chikako Kagami\nDirector: Norio Ogikubo\nProducer: Norio Ogikubo \nThis documentary film explores the themes of prenatal memories\, child-rearing\, and the healing of our own inner children. “Prenatal memories” refers to the children’s recollections from the time that they were inside their mothers’ bodies as well as from an even earlier time. It is said that children are able to access such memories between the ages of around two and four. \n“Inner children” refers to “the small children living inside of us”; in other words\, the purest version of our own selves\, who resides deep inside our own hearts—and who might have been wounded and repressed by painful experiences during childhood. \nIn this film—which has neither music nor narration—the camera carefully captures interviews regarding prenatal memories\, as well as child-rearing scenes\, and the process through which self-affirmative inner child work is undertaken. \nIt is our hope that viewers will put aside any prior existing conceptions to watch our film\, which portrays researchers\, educators\, and communicative healers working intently with children. By inviting our audience to watch with fresh eyes\, we thereby aim to provide a space for our audience members to consider\, also with fresh eyes\, the relationships with their own children\, as well as any other children in their lives. \nhttp://norio-ogikubo.info/en/ \n\n\n\n  \n
