I have a passion for helping people get through difficult times and reach seemingly unattainable goals. With my background in movement and psychology\, I bring a unique mind/body approach to Pilates that combines the physical understanding of the body and balance with a consideration for my clients’ needs.I have an MA in Psychology and have worked for years in the healthcare field. I discovered the merits of Pilates when I began rehabilitating my own chronic back and hip injuries after spending over twenty years as a gymnast. I became immediately captivated upon feeling the benefits of the practice. After completing over six hundred hours of apprenticeship to fulfill my training at Power Pilates\, NYC in 2002 I truly began my Pilates journey. \nHaving finally decided to merge my desire to help others with my passion for fitness and movement\, I began teaching Pilates full-time in several gyms and studios in NYC and Palm Beach\, FL. Continuing studies in biomechanics and anatomy evolved my teaching beyond classical Pilates and allowed me to give clients a deeper understanding of the exercises. I now provide clients not only with better bodies and smaller waistlines\, but also offer guidance through injury recovery and prevention\, weight loss programs\, and pre- and post-natal fitness regimens. \nAs I was recognized for my talent and quick results\, my clientele grew quickly. In 2006\, I opened Rinaldi Pilates with the vision of providing my dedicated regulars and future clients with a home away from home\, in a personalized boutique studio setting. I was fortunate enough to be joined by a team of instructors with extraordinary work. \nWhen I am not in the studio\, you can find me taking yoga classes\, playing tennis\, jumping on a surfboard\, at the spin studio\, or at a local culinary school. See you in the studio soon…\nLearn moreResources\nMay – June 2014Wed7:30 pm

SUMMARY:Tai Chi Classes with Ron Navarre — Thursday nights 5/1 – 6/19
DESCRIPTION:Tai Chi is a multi-dimensional discipline of mind\, body\, and spirit. As a martial art\, it is the most sophisticated and takes the longest to master. As a health practice\, it has numerous benefits that have been documented in medical studies worldwide. Often described as moving meditation\, Tai Chi teaches how to ground\, center and balance our energies for healing or self defense. \nBENEFITS\nLowers blood pressure\nImproves respiration & circulation\nStrengthens balance\nIncreases energy\nIncreases mobility\nImproves memory\nImproves posture\nRelaxation\nSelf Defense\nI teach the Yang Style long form of Tai Chi Chuan. My emphasis is on correct posture and alignment\, rooting\, sinking and relaxation. I address the martial art application as a way to clarify the movements and to give further meaning to the form. This helps prepare the student for further study in the practice of push hands and helps one to remember the pattern and sequence.\nAbout the Instructor\nI began my martial art training at the age of ten in the Korean style of Moo Duk Kwan Tang Soo Do and Hapkido with master Jae Joon Kim outside of Detroit Michigan. At age sixteen I began to study Chung Do Kwan Tae Kwan Do with master Ron Rose and also became interested in theater and dance in high school. My interest in theater took me to the Interlochen National Arts Academy at age seventeen where I received a scholarship for classical ballet and choreographic studies. Upon graduating high school I received a full scholarship to the Royal Winnipeg Ballet in Canada where I trained as a dancer\, teacher and choreographer.\nWhen I was nineteen I awoke one morning to a searing pain in both my knees and could not stand up. I had developed patella tendonitis. The injury to my knees was devastating. I was informed by my orthopedic sports doctor that my dancing career was over. I spent six months in intensive physical therapy\, another three months learning how to move and walk without crutches. Toward the end of my rehab process I met a talented massage therapist from Russia and was introduced to deep tissue reconstructive massage. With in two months I was walking and moving freely and was able to resume my dance training to the astonishment of my sports doctor. During my recovery\, I shifted my focus from performing to teaching and choreographing until I was strong enough to perform again.\nAt the age of twenty one\, I left Canada and came to New York City where I was hired to perform in a touring Company of the Broadway Musical “A Chorus Line”. While in rehearsals I injured my lower back. In a frantic search to find a massage therapist I was introduced to Shiatsu\, a Japanese form of acupressure massage. After one session I was 80% better and was able to continue rehearsals for the show. After returning from my tour I studied Shiatsu with Dr. David Taylor and was asked to join the Broadway company of “A Chorus Line.” I began my own practice as a Shiatsu Therapist at the age of twenty four.\nWhile performing on Broadway I continued to study martial arts ( Aikido and Tai Chi) and alternative healing modalities. At the age of twenty five I began my studies in taoist esoteric yoga and Chi Qong with master Mantak Chia and Michael Winn and eventually with Taoist medical priest Jeffry C. Yuen. Around the age of twenty seven I began studying Yoga with Juliu Horovath and Hilary Cartwright of the White Cloud Yoga Studio. After three years of training I was asked to become a yoga teacher at the White Cloud Studio in New York City.\nIn 1993 after almost 12 years of performing\, choreographing and directing I decided to shift my focus and my career to the healing arts. I created Stress Defense® and began teaching stress reduction seminars based on the holistic principles I learned in the martial and healing arts.\nThe synthesis of the martial\, healing and performing arts has proven to be very successful. I have taught Stress Defense® seminars for Prudential Securities\, Columbia University\, The Smithers Center for Alcoholism\, The Pacific Institute of Oriental Medicine\, The Dorot Center for senior citizens\, The Regent Hospital for Drug Rehabilitation\, The American Academy of Dramatic Arts\, The Mattel Corporation\, the Girl Scouts of America\, Bally’s Total Fitness\, Origins Cosmetics and The New York Real-Estate Association in Manhattan. I have been featured at the International Hong Kong Tai Chi Festival In Central Park in NYC\, Free Spirit Magazines Health and Fitness Forum and can be seen on the Discovery channels Health and Fitness channel\, and on Good Day New York on Fox channel 5.\nAs an adjunct professor I have taught tai chi at Fordham University at Lincoln Center\, New York University through the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute and the Pacific Institute of Oriental Medicine in New York City. In addition to tai chi and Chi Qong\, I taught Yoga at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center for fourteen years. I am currently on the teaching staff the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute where I teach Tai Chi\, Chi Qong and Internal energy management. In addition\, I hold a private practice as a Reiki master\, energetic healer and spiritual counselor.\nLearn moreBlog\nMay – June 2014Wed7 – 8:30 pm

SUMMARY:ZEN DRAGON Sound Meditation – 6/1
DESCRIPTION:Explore and free yourself with the Japanese instrument Zanmaikin.\n \nEmbrace the mysterious stroke sounds produced from the Japanese-born metal percussion instrument\, Zanmaikin\, and the celestial frequencies produced from the Solfeggio Tuner…. You can freely enjoy releasing and resetting your mind and body in this special meditation session. The sounds of the Zanmaikin and Solfeggio Tuner will invite you on a magical journey.\n \nWith your eyes closed\, they will immediately take you away from the earthly everyday life to the infinite cosmic space\, yet at the same time\, you will find nostalgic\, safe and warm feelings in this unworldly journey\, as if you were back in your mother’s womb.\n \nJoin our meditation session\, letting the worldly thoughts and all sorts of worries drift away\, and just look into the peaceful surface of the holy spring deep within your heart\, and feel it… Just feel it…\n \n…With your inner little dragon.\n \nEmail : zendragon@healingwave.jp\nFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/626406494119881/\nAdmission Fee: $10\n \n【Zanmaikin】\nUnique metal percussion instrument made of iron/ pure titanium\, created by Mr. Tomoaki Kawakami\, a Japanese smithy based in Ishikawa prefecture\, Japan. Kawakami got the inspiration to create this special instrument from the offhand remark of a shaman whom he had met in Bali. As the Zanmaikin is manually produced\, piece by piece at Kawakami’s studio in Ishikawa\, every single piece produces a different tone.\n \n【Solfeggio Tuner】\nSpecial tuning forks used for healing purpose. These forks are tuned to the Solfeggio frequencies\, which were used in ancient Gregorian chants including “Saint John’s Hymn.”\nThe celestial frequencies produced from the Solfeggio Tuners are said to have a healing effect on us\, and to regain the harmony of chakra balance\, acting on each cell of one’s body as well as on the surrounding auric field to cleanse away the blocks which prevent the healthy energy flow.\n \nAbout Reservation:\nNo reservation is required to join our meditation session\, though we can reserve seat for you and for your friends if you want. Just let us know.\n \nReservation and Questions About the Session:\nEmail zendragon@healingwave.jp\n \n \nABOUT CHIGUSA FUKUSHIMA\n \nThe beautiful sound of the Solfeggio Tuner attracted and led Chigusa into the world of the Tuner Healing Practitioner. After completing the SomaEnergetics™ training course\, she started her career as a Tuner Therapist in 2007. Later\, she came to know the Zanmaikin created by the Ishikawa-based smithy “Tomoaki Kawakami” and since then\, she has been offering the original sound session as a Sound Resonance Therapist. Chigusa also co-hosts the uniquely organized “Sound & Candle Night” event with an up-and-coming Japanese Candle Creator\, Takami\, featuring Solfeggio Tuners and the Zanmaikin along with Takami’s beautiful and unique candles. The event is well-received in various areas in Japan. \nLearn moreWatch Lecture #1Resources\nJune 201416 – 8 pm

SUMMARY:Tai Chi with OAK TREE — Monday nights starting 5/5
DESCRIPTION:Tai Chi Chuan Movement:  “Meditation in Motion”\nTai Chi movements help to relieve tense muscles and lubricate joints that promote automatic body alignment and a solid center of gravity. The mental concentration\, deep breathing\, relaxing\, sinking and pressing\, generates a marvelous inner energy flow throughout the system\, resulting in the movements of Tai Chi Chuan. The full exhalation increases lung capacity for incoming oxygen. The more oxygen we have in our system\, the more energy we produce and the healthier we are. Tai Chi Grand Master William C. C. Chen says that the motion of Tai Chi Chuan also helps to regulate the nervous system\, and reduce anxiety\, stress and depression. It is a positive result of mental/physical fitness and spiritual well being.\n60 Movements that you learn in this class are derived from Traditional Yang Style Form by Grand Master William C. C. Chen.\nFee: $15 (general)/$10 (seniors 60+ & students)\n* Artists discount (-$2) is available.\n*$10 (general)/$5 (seniors 60+ & students) for the first time trial.\n*Private sessions also available.\nContact: taichiwithoaktree@gmail.com\n \n \n \nAbout the Instructor\nKiyoko “OAK TREE” Kashiwagi\, dancer/choreographer/tai chi player was born and raised in Japan. SUMMARY:Water Children film screening — 9/13 & 9/20
DESCRIPTION:WATER CHILDREN (documentary)\, 2011\nA film by Aliona van der Horst\nNetherlands\, 2011\, 75 minutes\, Color\nJapanese/English (English Subtitles)\nShowtimes: Sat\, 9/13 at 7 pm and Sat\, 9/20 at 2 pm \nCRS (Center for Remembering & Sharing) invites you to the NYC premiere of WATER CHILDREN. In this acclaimed\, hauntingly beautiful film\, director Aliona van der Horst follows the unconventional Japanese-Dutch pianist Tomoko Mukaiyama as she explores the miracle of fertility and the cycle of life—sometimes joyful\, sometimes tragic.\nTickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door.\nWhen Mukaiyama recognized that her childbearing years were ending\, she created a multimedia art project on the subject in a village in Japan\, constructing what she calls a cathedral\, out of 12\,000 white silk dresses. While Mukaiyama’s own mesmerizing music provides a haunting backdrop to the film\, her installation elicits confessions from its normally reticent Japanese visitors\, many of whom have never seen art before—and in moving scenes they open up about previously taboo subjects.\nMukaiyama’s courageous approach to a subject that remains unspoken in many cultures is explored with an elegance and sophistication that deepens our understanding of the relationship between body and mind. We hear from women who talk about their experiences with menstruation\, miscarriages\, children and the failure to conceive\, fertility and sexuality. \nThe miracle of fertility has always remained a miracle. In Mukaiyama’s unique installation\, visitors\, as in a ritual\, roamed around and fell silent\, and sometimes went on to describe intimate details about sexuality and choices made\, children who were or were not born. \nThis led the filmmaker to the ritual of the ‘water children.’ In Japan\, premature babies\, stillborns\, babies that were never born are commemorated in a mythological ritual and known as water children. Because they never had an opportunity to carry out good deeds\, they are unable to cross the underworld river and are trapped in stone figurines on a riverbank.\nIn the film\, the sound of Bach’s Goldberg Variations\, magically and sensually interpreted by Tomoko Mukaiyama\, subtly lifts the individual stories to the universal. The pianist and the filmmaker kept silent for a long time about their own deeper motivations to want to make the film and the artwork. Gradually\, while making the artwork and the film\, it becomes clear what drives them both\, each from her own fate.\nWatch the trailer: \n\n\n\n \n“As sensuous as Werner Herzog’s early work or Terence Malick\, especially ‘Tree of Life’…an extended moment of the sublime.”\n— Gawie Keyser\, De Groene Amsterdammer\n“Reserved and breathtakingly intimate… [T]he film penetrates into what is probably still one of the greatest of taboos\, menstruation\, and\, as a consequence\, about what femininity and being a woman mean.”\n— Dana Linssen\, NRC Handelsblad\n \nAbout Director Aliona van der Horst\nDutch director Aliona van der Horst has directed four international award-winning documentaries. She was born in Moscow\, Russia\, in 1970 and studied Russian literature at the University of Amsterdam and film at the Dutch Film and Television Academy. She began her career in 1997 with the much-acclaimed “The Lady with the White Hat” and since then has received multiple awards for most of her films\, among them the Special Jury Prize at the Tribeca film festival for “Voices of Bam” (2006)\, and the Grand Prix of the FIFA Montreal for “The Hermitage Dwellers” (2004). Recently she has received the Jan Kassies award by the Dutch Cultural Broadcasting Fund\, for outstanding achievement. For her documentary “Boris Ryzhy” (2008) she received the ‘Silver Wolf Award’ at the IDFA 2008\, Best Documentary Award at Edinburgh Filmfestival 2009\, the Award of the Dutch Filmjournalists and the Special Jury Prize at the FIFA\, Montréal.\nAbout Pianist Tomoko Mukaiyama\nTomoko Mukaiyama\, winner of the first prize of the Dutch Gaudeamus competition in 1991\, has been engaged by prestigious orchestras and ensembles like the Ensemble Modern in Frankfurt\, the London Sinfonietta\, the Ensemble Intercontemporain and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra among many others. She has collaborated with film directors\, designers\, architects\, dancers and photographers\, such as Marina Abramovic\, MERZBOW\, and Jirí Kylián.\nFrom the beginning of 2000 Tomoko Mukaiyama also started working as a visual artist. She used her experience as a concert pianist to create her first installation piece. She gave new dimension to the concert space with her project Amsterdam x Tokyo (2000) and for you – Yokohama Triennial (2002). She studied the absence and presence of the composer\, audience and pianist in her installation you and bach that she made for the Sydney Biennale in 2006. \nIn Show me your second face (2007) she transformed herself and the piano into a fashion sculpture. Her music installation Mo-Ichido (2008) also included the experience of scent by integrating organic odours and video. \nHer multimedia project wasted has successfully toured to five locations all over the world. In 2011 it also lead to a documentary about the project wasted.  Tomoko’s latest installation performance SHOES’ (2011) combines several fashion elements with human ambitions. In 2012 she collaborated with director Pierre Audi on a piece of the Finnish composer Kaija Saariaho. \nThis year she created the dance work SHIROKURO (2012) with Nicole Beutler and Jean Kalman. This work will be presented during the Holland Festival in 2013. Both the Setouchi Art Festival and the Aichi Triennial in Japan will present Tomoko’s installation works Nocturneen Falling (inspired by Beckett’s works) in 2013.\nShe’s also creating music for Jirí Kylián’s dance performance East Shadow which tours in 2013 and 2014. \nDEC 5 2024 – Ticketing \n\n \nWater Children web siteTomoko Mukaiyama’s web siteAliona van der Horst’s web site\n \nSept 201413\, 20

SUMMARY:Private Spiritual Reading/Healing Clinic — June 12\, 19
DESCRIPTION:Hi there! I’d like to invite your to come in and receive a private\, one-on-one 15-minute spiritual reading/healing session with me\, Christopher Pelham\, Director of CRS (Center for Remembering & Sharing)!\nBring any issue you are facing right now — physically\, emotionally\, mentally\, and/or spiritually. With eyes closed (you will be seated and I will stand nearby; no touching is involved)\, I will lead you through a short grounding meditation to relax and remember that we are spiritual beings\, unlimited by our physical circumstances and free to think and choose what we want. Together\, we will ask the Holy Spirit to bring us directly to whatever seed thought is causing your current issues. After about 10 minutes\, I will share with you the guidance that I receive. \nBy Holy Spirit\, I mean the voice of the part of your mind that seeks only to extend love to others unconditionally\, with the understanding that nothing real can be threatened. When you feel stuck\, or scared\, or angry and unable to forgive\, the Holy Spirit’s guidance can remind you that you can be happy now\, that you have what it takes to meet and use any situation for love\, and that your frustration is therefore not actually caused by your situation but rather by your way of looking at it. If you are willing to change your mind\, you can find a way of seeing your situation as an opportunity for you to learn\, grow\, and share your love and limitless creativity. It takes practice to re-train your mind to see opportunity in place of grievance. I humbly and enthusiastically offer to be your practice partner!\nThis session lasts 15 minutes. Please do not arrive late or you will not be able to receive a full session as another client may be scheduled immediately after you. You must register and pre-pay in advance. Refunds will only be given with at least 48 hours notice before the start of the session.\nI have been studying A Course in Miracles and Healing with Yasuko Kasaki\, founder of CRS\, since 2003. I offer healing at the CRS Walk-in Spiritual Healing Clinics on Monday and Tuesday evenings from 7 – 7:50 pm\, and I offer longer private counseling sessions by appointment. Sessions are $50 for 30 minutes or $100 for an hour. To make an appointment\, you can reach me at CRS at 212-677-8621 or by  email at chris@crsny.org.\nYou can learn more about me here.\n \nLearn more\nJune 201412\, 193:30 & 3:45 pm

SUMMARY:Revenge of the Women's Studies Professor — 6/20
DESCRIPTION:What really goes on in the feminist classroom? Are all the faculty and students wild-eyed\, hairy-legged\, man-hating homos? Based on her years as a popular professor at different colleges across the U.S.\, and what students have reported about the hostile climate they endure\, bestselling author and college professor Dr. Bonnie Morris brings her sharp wit and keen insights to bear on the negative sterotypes that keep many students from taking women’s studies courses. Join us for this entertaining and eye-opening talk on Friday\, June 20\, 2014 at 8 pm.\nTickets are only $12 through June 19\, and $15 on the day of. Students and seniors with valid ID can get tickets for $10 at the door!\nHave you ever been bullied just for taking a women’s studies course? If so\, you’re not alone. Throughout North America—and globally—bright students are jeered if they choose women’s history or women’s studies as their scholarly focus. Many soon find both their sexuality and their academic integrity being questioned by parents\, boyfriends\, even faculty advisors. Although by now women’s history has been mainstreamed into honors courses in most high schools\, it’s still far too easy to find media stereotypes depicting women’s history as a radical agenda taught by bitter “feminazis.” How much courage does it take simply to register for an introductory college class honoring your own foremothers? \nHigher education shouldn’t be this hostile. But one way to confront the backlash against feminism is with humor. Dr. Bonnie Morris turns the tables on critics and homophobes\, recounting ten witty scenes depicting true-life encounters with students\, faculty and friends terrified of what might go on in a feminist classroom. One scene re-enacts Dr. Morris’s confrontation with President Bill Clinton\, an incident first made famous in the anthology That Takes Ovaries!\nAbout Dr. Bonnie Morris\nSince 1993\, Dr. Morris has traveled around the world bringing “Revenge” to campuses and community stages\, hosting audience dialogues in Ireland\, Israel\, New Zealand\, Canada\, India\, Iceland\, and at the National Organization for Women’s Young Feminist Summit\, the National Women’s Studies Association annual conference\, and New York’s Gay and Lesbian Center. Now a book from Indiana University Press and a 2010 Finalist for the Lambda Literary Award in Drama\, “Revenge of the Women’s Studies Professor” includes the voices of many students who have triumphed over the backlash\, and invites audiences to join in lively Q & A feedback about the current climate for women’s studies and faculty.\nBonnie J. Morris teaches women’s history at both George Washington University and Georgetown\, and is the author of eight books\, including Revenge of the Women’s Studies Professor\, Eden Built By Eves\, Girl Reel\, and Women’s History For Beginners. Her film credits include appearances in “Contact\,” “If Women Ruled the World\,” “Radical Harmonies\,” “Speaking Our Minds” and “The Coat Hanger Project.” In addition to serving on the board of Mothertongue\, D.C.’s spoken-word stage for women\, Dr. Morris is an academic advisor to the National Women’s History Museum and a women’s history reader for the College Board AP U.S. History exam.\n \nLearn moreResources\nJune 2014208 pm

SUMMARY:Open Rehearsal: ARAGOSTA (Lobster) by ASMED Balletto di Sardegna — 7/23/14
DESCRIPTION:CRS presents an intimate meet and greet and free look at a rehearsal of the NYC premiere of ARAGOSTA (Lobster)\, choreographed by London-based choreographer Moreno Solinas for the Italian dance company ASMED Balletto di Sardegna. The work will be performed by three dancers\, Francesca Assiero Brà\, Anna Paola Della Chiesa\, Rachele Montis\, and Artistic Director Massimiliano Leoni will be in attendance. The company will be in NY to present the work at the Between the Seas Festival on July 22 and 24\, 2014.\nCRS previously hosted a production by ASMED Balletto di Sardegna in September of 2011\, and the work was considered to have been very beautiful and was very warmly received. We are delighted to be able to renew the relationship between our companies at this time.\nARAGOSTA carries on the company’s work of research around the great non-conformist Italian stylist of the thirties\, Elsa Schiaparelli\, begun last year. Elsa Schiaparelli still inspires lots of generations of contemporary artists not only in Italy but also at an international level. This time\, the reflection takes shape in a completely new piece enriched with surprising concepts and abstract expression codes. The new choreography stems from that unstoppable pulse to create and express oneself at all costs and despite everything; in spite of the imposed cultural roles\, the crushing social conventions and the timeless conflict between the natural and social being.\nIt has been spontaneous and almost irresistible to associate the stylish exuberance of Schiaparelli with the innovative expressive hardiness of Moreno Solinas\, the emerging choreographer who gives authorship to this new work. Sardinian by birth but Londoner by choice\, Solinas distinguishes himself both for his cosmopolitan attitude and North European sensitivity. His never-ending creativity and natural predisposition to catch new aspects and visual angles makes him the most brilliant artist to give an original interpretation of the Italian designer’s genius.  \nThe insatiable curiosity for everything concerning art and expression\, the ability to unveil all the details that the common look ignores\, the will to go further in space and time\, these are the key points of Schiaparelli’s thought and uniqueness. As a result the stage becomes a testing ground where dance develops a cognitive dialog with itself and the unconscious. Dance confronts itself with the revolutions it can create. The audience sees with astonishment the way bodies change shape and become\, in a surrealist perspective\, new creatures or even objects\, which seem to come out of a painting or the fading memory of a bizarre dream. The three female dancers’ bodies turn themselves into instruments that produce music. Sound arises from the beating of the hands or by the feet stepping on the ground\, but also by screams\, seductive voices murmuring\, shortness of breath and inarticulate phonemes. \nIn this light it is not that weird that dancers perform a fashion show wearing nothing but their own skin\, celebrating with shocking simplicity their identity. Solinas reproduces through symbolic images the way the Italian stylist represented her vision of life in her audacious creations\, overturning the schemes\, like a lobster painted on a silky white dress that claims to be elegant. The show invites the audience to freely express himself/herself\, even though it means to be unpredictable and\, why not\, a little bit crazy.\nThis work is supported by the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Autonomous Region of Sardinia (ITALY).\nABOUT CHOREOGRAPHER MORENO SOLINAS\nMoreno Solinas was born in Sassari and trained as a dancer and choreographer at the London Contemporary Dance School. He is currently based in London where he works as a choreographer\, performer and director. In 2012 he founded the company ‘Igor and Moreno’ in partnership with Igor Urzelai. Their collaborations include their latest duet Idiot-Syncrasy (supported by Arts Council England\, The Place\, Yorkshire Dance\, Cambridge Junction\, CSC-Bassano del Grappa and BAD Festival in Bilbao)\, an installation performance for the Bloomberg SPACE and commissions by The Place and Dance Umbrella. Together they have presented their works in 12 European countries and also in the USA gaining awards and recognitions\, including the Rudolf Laban Award (2011)\, a special mention at Prix Jardin d’Europe (2010) and the top-20 Aerowaves (2011 & 2013).\nMoreno’s work is characterised by a strong will to employ a poetic yet political language to reclaim the role of the theatre as a place for assembly whilst exploring the cathartic properties of live performance. Through the use of the body\, voice\, text and design\, he creates finely crafted and playful dance works which are in equal parts exciting and uncompromising\, poetic and thought-provoking. \nMoreno is amongst the founding members of BLOOM! Dance Collective. In 2011 he was invited to join Work Place artists scheme as an associate choreographer and his work is supported by the leading dance house The Place (London).\nLearn more\nJuly 2014235 – 6 pm

It is hard to explain\, but the full moon created such a mood that I was all of a sudden inspired to draw rabbits. This continued to happen on many moons. Many rabbits kept on appearing on my sketchbook for many months.\nAccording to a Japanese folk tale\, rabbits live on the moon making rice cakes to bring us prosperity. Perhaps they came down from the moon to share their wisdom with me. They gently and slowly introduced me to a spirit world so that I would not be afraid. \nAfter years of drawing\, the rabbits began to appear less frequently and they transformed into a sacred-looking beings in disguise of rabbit-like forms.  Although they looked cute and innocent\, they embodied power and dignity.  Also the drawings became more structural and complex\, like what we call a Sacred Geometry but my drawings are in much more free form.  Moreover\, I started to be introduced to other dimensions\, such as Nature kingdom\, Angelic kingdom\, ET world\, Realm of Light and Masters\, and other Universes.\nThrough drawing\, I began to understand that our imagination is connected with the source of Creation (God if you may call)\, I didn’t even believe in God\, when I started to draw. I thought that angels and fairies and ETs are just a fantasy. Through my drawings\, I can experience and remember their world\, and I can feel their presence as real as seeing them. Through my drawings\, my soul memories started to be awakened\, and I can feel all those presence in my heart\, and they became more and more real to me\, and I have been learning a precious wisdom from the spirit world through my drawings.\nMy drawings are all done by free-hand and the sizes are as large as 8 feet tall or 10 feet in width.\nI would like to introduce the multi-dimensional worlds through my artwork and allow the audience to journey through each of them and receive the energies and activations within our soul to awaken our soul and to remember who truly are. They are gifts from our Creator which happened to flow through my hand\, and so my intention is to share to people as much as I can by traveling the world. \n \nLearn moreHaruko’s web site\nAugust 201422 – 24Daily talks 2 – 3 pm

SUMMARY:Film Screening: Fukushima\, Rokkasho and Message to the Future— 9/12/14
DESCRIPTION:Fukushima\, Rokkasho and Message to the Future | 2013\nKei Shimada — director\nin Japanese with English subtitles\, 105′\n \nCRS\, Think Act Change NYC\, Learn From 3.11\, Mar Creation\, and Todos Somos Japon (now called Sloths Against Nuclear State) invite you to the NYC premiere of the documentary “Fukushima\, Rokkasho and Message to the Future.” This film shows us how the shadowy alliance of the Japanese government and the nuclear power industry have managed to build nuclear installations all over rural Japan to benefit urban Japan and the US military\, despite strong opposition from the people living in those communities\, and it also shows us the many ways in which the everyday lives of the people in these communities have suffered\, sometimes tragically\, as a result and how they persevere. They tell their own stories\, in their own words\, in such a way that their humanity and our complicity in their suffering cannot be marginalized.\n \nFollowing each screening\, we will have a conversation via Skype with the director\, Kei Shimada and light refreshments will be served. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door.\nThe film includes two songs\, “Are You Safe Now?” (composed six days after the earthquake) and “Nuchiyui\,” sung by the famous Japanese singer and environmentalist\, Tokiko Kato\, who has served in the past as an ambassador for the World Wildlife Fund and the United Nations Environment Program. See her TEDxTokyo talk about what it means to live with radiation.\n \nDirector Kei Shimada\, 53\, is an award-winning photographer who started covering nuclear issues when the 1986 Chernobyl disaster in Ukraine happened. In her fascination\, perhaps\, she found herself settling in remote Rokkasho village (pop. 11\,000) in the northern Aomori Prefecture\, where a large nuclear fuel cycle complex stands\, the first in Japan that can produce large amounts of weapons-grade plutonium annually\, enough to construct up to 2\,000 bombs. In 2011\, she was getting ready to shoot her first movie featuring Rokkasho\, its residents\, and how their lives are being affected by the nuclear plant. But\, as the Great East Japan Earthquake hit\, causing the tsunami that resulted in the nuclear meltdown of the Fukushima Daiichi plant\, she was convinced that she needed to add Fukushima in her documentary\, now entitled “Fukushima\, Rokkasho and Message to the Future.”\nShimada says of her film\, “I hope I can show that we can’t coexist with nuclear power and it is the duty of each of us to make a choice about energy in the future.”\nSinger Tokiko Kato was born in Harbin in 1943. In 1965\, she won the Japan Amateur Chanson Competition and made her debut as a singer while she was an undergraduate at the University of Tokyo. Since then she has had many hit songs and has made more than 70 albums. In addition to dozens of concerts at home\, Ms. Kato’s  performances around the world have included Carnegie Hall in New York in 1988 and 1990. In 1992\, she received the prestigious Chevalier Medal for Culture from the Government of France for her artistic achievements and cultural activities. Her performances at the Fuji Rock Festival in 2006 and 2011 as well as at the ap bank fes. in 2007 and 2011 obtained great attention for their audience appeal across generations. Besides being active as a singer\, Ms. Kato took a turn as an actress in the film Izakaya Choji (1983). And in the animated film Porco Rosso (1992) by Hayao Miyazaki\, she displayed her charm as a voice actor.\nMs. Kato is an activist about global environmental issues. Following her appointment as World Wildlife Fund Councilor in 1997\, she was named Special Envoy for the United Nations Environment Programme in October 2000. She has traveled extensively throughout Asia and Oceania to spread the word about the actual state of the natural environment that she has personally witnessed\, as well as to foster human connections through her music. In April 2008\, Ms. Kato reported on her activities as UNEP Special Envoy and performed live at the UN General Assembly Hall in New York City (she resigned from her post of UNEP Special Envoy in March 2011). At home in Japan\, Ms. Kato continues her endeavors together with the younger generation toward realizing an eco-friendly society\, basing their operations at the “Kamogawa Nature Kingdom” farm in Kamogawa\, Chiba Prefecture.\n \nWatch trailer\n \nSept 20141211 am & 7 pm

SUMMARY:Occupation 101 film screening — 8/22/14
DESCRIPTION:OCCUPATION 101 (documentary)\, 2006\ndirected by Sufyan Omeish and Abdallah Omeish\nnarrated by Alison Weir\, founder of If Americans Knew\nUSA\, 90 minutes\, English\nShowtimes: Friday\, Aug 22\, 2014 at 7 pm\nTickets are $10.\nCRS (Center for Remembering & Sharing) invites you to screen and discuss OCCUPATION 101\, a multi-award-winning documentary film about the current and historical root causes of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Unlike any other film ever produced on the conflict\, OCCUPATION 101 presents a comprehensive analysis of the facts and hidden truths surrounding the never ending controversy and dispels many of its long-perceived myths and misconceptions.\nThe film details life under Israeli military rule\, the role of the United States in the conflict\, and the major obstacles that stand in the way of a lasting and viable peace. The roots of the conflict are explained through first-hand on-the-ground experiences from leading Middle East scholars\, peace activists\, journalists\, religious leaders and humanitarian workers\, many of them Jewish\, whose voices have too often been suppressed in American media outlets (see complete list below).\nCRS is not on one side or against anyone. Our Center exists to create events and experiences wherein we can together remember that we are all the same\, deserving of only love\, able to give and receive only love\, regardless of what our perceptions may show us. This is easier to do when we take time to really see and understand one another\, and it is essential to do so whenever we perceive conflict. We have decided to show this particular film not to tell anyone what to think but rather to facilitate conversation and understanding and promote unity and peace. Many Jewish\, Israeli\, Palestinian and American-based Middle East scholars\, peace activists\, journalists\, religious leaders and humanitarian workers share first-hand on-the-ground experiences and explanations about the roots of the conflict so it is our hope that this film can be a reasonable starting point for further study and conversation. Please feel comfortable and welcome to offer constructive criticism and share any concerns you may have during the Q&A following the screening. We will do our best to establish an environment of openness\, inclusiveness\, respect and love.\nTopics covered include the first wave of Jewish immigration from Europe in the 1880’s\, the 1920 tensions\, the 1948 war\, the 1967 war\, the first Intifada of 1987\, the Oslo Peace Process\, Settlement expansion\, the role of the United States Government\, the second Intifada of 2000\, the separation barrier and the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza\, as well as many heart wrenching testimonials from victims of this tragedy.\nWatch the trailer:\n  \n \nOccupation 101 features a leading list of some of the most credible Middle East scholars\, historians\, peace activists\, journalists\, and humanitarian workers: \nDr. Albert Aghazarian. SUMMARY:Inner Vision Workout Using Principles of A Course in Miracles — Fall 2014
DESCRIPTION:Drawing on the principles of A Course in Miracles (ACIM) and lessons from the ACIM Workbook & other resources\, we’ll practice meditation & creative visualization to develop our intuitive abilities and experientially explore some tasty questions! \nWhat prevents us from being happy now?\nIs there a better way to see ourselves and the world?\nWhat is an Inner Teacher & how can we tune in?\nWhat do we really want to do? \nDiscussion of these experiences and how to apply them to situations that come up in our lives is welcome\, but we will aim to spend the majority of the time experiencing rather than trying to use our logical minds to understand and solve problems.\nStudents of the Course will appreciate this class as a lab for developing our ability to dialog with the Holy Spirit (the Course’s name for the inner voice or teacher who also speaks from the point of view of the thought system that recognizes that only love exists). That said\, familiarity with the Course is not required. Believing in “God” or familiarity with the concept of an “inner voice” is not even required. All that is required is a sense of curiosity and a willingness to explore and play.\nInstructor Christopher Pelham is the Director and a co-founder of CRS (Center for Remembering & Sharing). He balances his time between overseeing the growth and health of the CRS community\, producing arts/cultural/educational events at the Center\, and working as a CRS Healer and student and teacher of A Course in Miracles. He has previously also worked in educational publishing and as a web designer\, writer/editor\, actor (most notably for several seasons with Doris Duke Impact Award Winner Johnny Simons at the Hip Pocket Theatre in Ft. SUMMARY:Exhibition: Atonement – Aganai — Ceramic Sculpture by Miyu Asakawa
DESCRIPTION:CRS (Center for Remembering & Sharing) is delighted to announce ATONEMENT – AGANAI\, an exhibition of ragu-fired stoneware by artist Miyu Asakawa. The ceramic masks and heads in this exhibition are inspired by actual events in the artist’s life. Each mask represents a feeling Miyu had at a particular moment in time\, phases in her life\, or in a relationship. All of the masks were cast of her own face or that of friends or family.\nAsakawa has been studying A Course in Miracles and was also inspired in her recent work by the Course’s re-conception of atonement as meaning to be “healed” by re-connecting with one’s inner truth (realizing that sin always was and is impossible and that we are always already perfect\, as God created us.) So\, even though these masks express the ego’s vulnerability and the scars of drama/trauma\, she wants to use this process of psychic excavation to reach something changeless below the surface\, to recover her own sense of strength and grace.\nAn Opening Reception with the artist will be held on Saturday\, September 13\, 2014 from 5 – 7 pm. Following the reception\, please join us for a screening of the lyrical and profound Dutch-Japanese documentary film “Water Children.”\nMiyu Asakawa was born in Fukuoka\, Japan and moved to New York in 1998. She has been working in ceramics for the last seven years. Most of the pieces in this exhibit are made in the Raku method\, which is a particular method of glazing and firing clay. In Raku\, the glaze of every piece comes out completely different\, even if it started out identical on two separate pieces. She has previously had exhibitions in NY at Art on A in Manhattan and at Roux Roux in Brooklyn.\n \nRead more\nOpening Sept 201413 5 – 7 pm

SUMMARY:Int'l Day of the Girl Screening & Talk by Miki Agrawal — 10/11
DESCRIPTION:IT’S A GIRL\nEvan Grae Davis\, Director\, 2012  \nUSA | 64′ (English)\nOn Saturday\, October 11\, 2014 at 5:30 pm\, CRS (Center for Remembering & Sharing) and Think Act Change NYC invite you to screen and discuss IT’S A GIRL\, a documentary film about the battle to end gendercide. \nWe’re super excited to confirm that the wonderfully awesome serial social entrepreneur Miki Agrawal (best-selling author of Do Cool Sh*t\, WILD pizza restaurateur\, recipient of the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival’s “Disruptive Innovation Award” and named 2013’s Forbes’ “Top 20 Millienials On a Mission”) will be joining us to discuss the film and her current project THINX\, an underwear solution for “that time of the month” with proceeds from sale providing seven reusable cloth pads to get millions of girls back in school. And she’ll be bringing FREE PIZZA from Wild! And Sydney-based Think Act Change founder Avis Mulhall will be hosting\, and Molly Hayward\, founder of Cora (provides organic feminine hygience products by subscription and by donation to women in need all over the world) will be joining the panel discussion!\nThe United Nations estimates that as many as 200 million girls  are missing in the world today because they have been killed\, aborted or abandoned simply because they are girls. Will gender equality ever become a reality? What is stopping us from tackling this universal problem together and advancing women’s human rights today? This will be a great opportunity for you to share your thoughts on the latest Emma Watson HeforShe speech and on what you think the media and organizations could be doing collectively in our community to further gender equality because at the end of the day it’s not his or her problem\, it’s our problem.\nEarly bird tickets are $11 online. Seating is limited and first come\, first serve. Tickets are $15 at the door.\nABOUT THE DOCUMENTARY\nGirls who survive infancy are often subject to neglect\, and many grow up to face extreme violence and even death at the hands of their own husbands or other family members. The war against girls is rooted in centuries-old tradition and sustained by deeply ingrained cultural dynamics which\, in combination with government policies\, accelerate the elimination of girls.\nThe film tells the stories of abandoned and trafficked girls\, of women who suffer extreme dowry-related violence\, of brave mothers fighting to save their daughters’ lives\, and of other mothers who would kill for a son. Global experts and grassroots activists put the stories in context and advocate different paths towards change\, while collectively lamenting the lack of any truly effective action against this injustice.\nABOUT SPEAKER MIKI AGRAWAL\nMiki Agrawal is a serial social entrepreneur. She was a recipient of the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival’s “Disruptive Innovation Award” and named 2013’s Forbes’ “Top 20 Millienials On a Mission.” She is the founder of the acclaimed farm-to-table\, alternative pizza concept called WILD (www.eatdrinkwild.com) in NYC. She has since partnered with Zappos.com CEO Tony Hsieh to open the concept in Downtown Las Vegas.\nHer next undertaking is THINX (www.shethinx.com)\, a high-tech\, beautiful underwear solution for women during their “time of the month.” She and her partners teamed up with AFRIpads in Uganda to fund seven reusable cloth pads for every pair of underwear sold to get millions of girls back in school.\n  \n \nMiki is also a partner in Super Sprowtz\, a children’s media company working to get kids to eat more vegetables (www.supersprowtz.com).\nMost recently\, Harper Collins published her book entitled “DO COOL SH*T” (www.docoolshit.org) on entrepreneurship and lifestyle design. The book launched on August 6th\, 2013 and in 3 days\, it hit #1 on Amazon Bestsellers list in entrepreneurship.\nMiki is an identical twin\, half-Japanese\, half-Indian French Canadian\, former professional soccer player and graduate of Cornell University.\nhttp://www.mikiagrawal.com\nIt’s a Girl web siteWatch trailer\nOctober 201411 5:30 pm

It was his parents gift of a Canon film camera back in 1973 that set Brad’s path in motion. Brad has over 40 years of photography experience\, which includes the fields of fashion\, commercial and nature photography. Having walked away from a 12 year fashion run some time ago\, he left with countless credits and publications which included Marie Claire\, Dolce & Gabbana\, Ink\, Flick\, La Estetica\, and Zink. His love for the trade diminished and left him questioning where to go next. Brad turned to nature and fast became aware that he had found his true love. His passion for shooting nature and fine arts have become his chosen path. Born in Dallas\, Texas\, Brad obtained his BFA from the University of North Texas; majoring in photography and with a minor in botany. Little did He know at the time that soon he would be combining the two. Shortly there after\, Brad escaped to New York City to find his place amongst the leaders in his trade and where he still happily resides. Brad’s sole objective is to help inspire others with the grace and essence of spirit that lives and breathes in nature.\n \n \nBrad’s web site\nOpening Nov 20148 5 – 7 pm
