To honor this energy\, our sound healers\, Miyoko and Senko\, will help us to partner up and drum\, rattle\, and sing to one another (no experience or “talent” necessary) as we journey to meet our power animals and ask what seeds to plant. Let us shake\, rattle and roll with the rhythm of cosmic vibration to help heal ourselves and all our relations. \nFollowing a short share\, CRS Healer Miyoko will lead us through a crystal bowl meditation to help us clear our minds and clarify what we have received from spirit. \nThe fee is $20 through March 9 and $25 on March 10. \n \nOur purpose\, guided by our devoted study and practice of A Course in Miracles\, is to remind one another that we are one and the same\, always already perfect expressions of love. Therefore\, we will be training ourselves to look for and find such reminders in all of our visions and experiences. While the forms of our activities draw on or are adapted from various shamanic and healing traditions\, we do not seek to hold up any particular forms as essential or superior in and of themselves. Any form or experience could be used to remember who we truly are and to join with others. We will be using these particular forms simply because we enjoy them! \nCRS Co-Founder Christopher Pelham will lead the circle this month. Chris has a background in ensemble and improvisational theatre and has been studying ACIM since 2003 and offering healing and spiritual counseling since 2013. DESCRIPTION:An Investigation into Memories of Past Lives & the Periods Between Lives \nThis course addresses the phenomenon of past-life recall (retrocognition). Several movies and books have been produced reporting cases of people having these experiences. Few\, however\, explain the reasons that the phenomenon occurs or how to generate it. \nThe Retrocognition course strives to study\, in a comprehensive way\, the mechanism of retrocognition. Wagner Alegretti\, author of the book Retrocognitions — Memories of Past Lives and the Periods Between Lives\, will analyze the causes of and techniques to generate the recollection of previous lives and the period between lives. Retrocognition is an unavoidable and important element in human evolution. Through retrocognitions we learn about our decisions in the past\, thus being able to avoid making the same mistakes again. Also\, we can verify “who” are the people who constitute our evolutionary group in this life. It also allows us to access information about our existential program (life task\, life mission) for this life. \nThe course examines spontaneous\, forced\, and voluntary retrocognitions\, discussing the factors that predispose or inhibit such recollections (case studies will be presented). DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a talk and presentation by Mao Ishikawa\, one of Okinawa’s most celebrated photographers\, about her work from the “Hot Days in Camp Hansen” and “Dai-Ryukyu Shashin Emaki.” Being an excellent essayist with her own original way of writing\, Mao is renowned in Japan as a speaker with keen insight\, profound love\, human sympathy and a wild sense of humor. Her aunt\, Teiko Yonaha-Tursi\, who has been living in the US since 1964\, will participate in the event. Teiko was a survivor of the Battle of Okinawa and is now a karate dance choreographer and dancer as well as a Goodwill Ambassador appointed by the Okinawan Government. She is active as an overseas reporter and essayist for the Okinawa Times newspaper. Enjoy the tropical intensity of Okinawa that this powerful and soulful aunt/niece team reflect. \nMao Ishikawa identifies strongly as an Okinawan photographer. Her first project\, “Hot Days in Camp Hansen\,” documented young women who worked in bars that catered to American soldiers\, particularly focusing on African-Americans who sometimes became their boyfriends. To capture the raw and direct image of subjects revealing “forbidden” relationships\, Mao herself worked as a bar hostess from 1975 to 1977 while taking these photos. \nHer current project is radically different in style from “Hot Days in Camp Hansen.” “Dai-Ryukyu Shashin Emaki” (The Great Ryukyu Photo Picture Scroll) is a scroll of color photos printed on a roll of cloth. Each photo theatrically represents an important historical scene in Okinawa\, from the times of the Ryukyu Kingdom to today. The project is motivated by fierce anger toward Okinawa’s current situation. Her rage is expressed with powerful satire and great humor\, which gives it an even stronger appeal to the viewers. \nAlthough her subjects and style has changed throughout her career\, her direct and brave approach to the harsh reality of Okinawa has always been resolute. She worked at the American Newspaper company “Morning Star” in Oyama\, Okinawa. In 1964 Teiko Moved to the USA due to an interracial marriage. In 1978 her husband passed at the age of 41 due to the possible Agent Orange disease\, which had created an undiagnosed complicated internal disease. The children were 11\, 13 & 14 years old and Teiko was 37. He had been hospitalized every year since he had returned from Vietnam in 1968. After his untimely death\, Teiko and her 3 children began Karate training; around the same time Teiko began Martial arts dance and choreography. These activities still continue. In 2004 she retired from working as a counselor and Youth Case Manager at the Mental Health Agency in New Jersey. In 2006 Teiko was appointed as a Goodwill Ambassador by the Okinawan Government. In 2014 she resigned from Presidency of the Okinawa American Association of New York. Teiko has been active as an Overseas Reporter since 1992 for the Okinawa Times Newspaper\, Essayist since 2013.

DESCRIPTION:CRS announces Beyond Prayer\, an exhibition of abstract paintings by Yuko Kasahara of Japan. These paintings are like a record of Yuko’s prayers for the recovery of her mind following the shock of her parents’ separate deaths by suicide. Mainly using transparent watercolors and oil pastels\, she attempts to express and dialog with her feelings of loss and separation\, to move past them to reach something timeless and always shining in herself. The exhibition will be on view from April 6 – 25\, 2017. \nMessage from Yuko Kasahara About This Exhibition \nI think I always keep praying while I’m painting. Praying is to be honest\, to affirm the expression that came from within myself\, to change without fear\, and to confirm what is important to me. This is an exhibition of work that I made while interacting with my heart in that way. These works may be like personal journals. But I feel like when I dive deeply and deeply into my heart\, I can be reaching something like a sea of universality beyond individuals. I want to go there\, I want to meet you there. While making works\, I am praying like that. \nArtist Statement \nFor me\, painting is the same as living\, praying\, and forgiving. \nMy parents’ respective suicides were very shocking events for me. Because of that\, I lost my physical and mental condition. At that time\, I could only express desperate feelings in a self-destructive way. After a long period of time when I could not cry because too painful\, I could finally cry a little. I think that the next day I was able to make a drawing — one that could not be described as a proper picture — on a notebook with a ballpoint pen. \nFrom that day\, I drew\, drew and continued drawing. \nThis process naturally came to represent abstractly the feelings coming out from inside of me that I could not express through language. I use fine drawing a lot. During those times I draw every single stroke with prayer. \nAt first\, my purpose of painting was to just breathe through my emotions. But\, I discovered the power to organize and change my thoughts through painting. When I start painting\, I dare not plan what kind of work to make. As led by colors and shapes\, I draw allowing my hand to be guided moment by moment. To not plan is\, for me\, to keep my mind open to the possibilities. I listen carefully\, honestly\, keep opening my mind. Finished works always take me to a place that I had not thought of before. Through studying A Course In Miracles painting\, and with the support of the people around me\, I deepened my connection to “Life\,” “Universality” and “Real thing” that cannot be lost\, and I regained the power to live. \nMy motto is “Various things happen in life\, but all is OK.”

This is not a program to train normal fitness professionals. \nThose interested in personal development will be provided with a powerful tool to improve all aspects of their flexibility along with community support from others who regularly practice self and assisted stretching. \nPreview of Concepts Covered\nThis course will teach you new concepts about flexibility such as… \n\nInflexibility is not caused solely by tense muscles\, but by the dense fascia and/or scar tissue that has accumulated in and around the muscles.\nYou must continuously resist and contract a muscle while lengthening it in order to exceed the tensile strength of the accumulated dense fascia which results in immediate increases in flexibility and strength.\nMost of the increases in flexibility occur when the muscle starts in a position where it is as short as possible and then lengthened\, not at the end point of the stretch where the muscle is already fully elongated.\nThe flexibility of a muscle is not just limited by its own health and ability\, but by the shortening capacity of its balancing muscle group.\nIt is commonly thought that simply weight training a muscle increases its ability to shorten\, however\, the ability of a muscle to shorten is dependent on its resistance flexibility.\nRange of motion does not equate to flexibility. True flexibility includes the health of the tissue and the muscle’s ability to continuously and fully contract concentrically\, eccentrically\, and isometrically throughout that range. Extreme range of motion is often an indicator of hyper mobility potentially leading to instability and damage of the joint structures.\nStretching is not just a physical activity\, but has direct and predictable associations with the physiological\, psychological\, emotional\, and spiritual parts of a person.\nStretching is not just a solo activity.
