SUMMARY:Exhibition: Matter — Paintings & Photographs by Takeshi Inoue
DESCRIPTION:CRS (Center for Remembering & Sharing) presents “Matter\,” an exhibition of 12 painted 3D collages and black and white photographs by Takeshi Inoue. The works reflect the essence of matter as being something constantly subject to transformation. Surfaces crack\, decay\, rust\, burn\, soften\, harden\, accumulate\, become. Space arises allowing for something new to enter. The marks created by the passage of time create patterns of surprising beauty. These images compel us to face the ephemerality of matter while their beauty speaks to our memory of what is timeless\, inviting us to reflect on who and what we are. \nThe exhibition will open on April 16\, 2019 and will remain on view through May 28\, 2019. \nTakeshi Inoue was born in Saitama\, Japan. He has a bachelors degree in history from Sophia University\, Tokyo\, Japan. He later studied Fine Art at The Glasgow School of Art in Scotland\, U.K. He currently works and lives in NY. \nARTIST STATEMENT \nThe work that I make is basically all process based\, and therefore I am never aware at the starting point what exactly I am creating. I constantly have ideas surfacing in my mind\, which I put forth and as a result may or may not work out. Either way\, the work itself is very much based on ideas\, but it’s not necessarily about putting a certain idea forward. There is a great deal of chance involved\, and I will know when something has come to fruit. I have a lot of influences from music\, film\, and books that I would be engaged into at the moment that I am making the work. Also\, the environment such as where I live\, the people that I meet\, the kind of conversation that I have with them\, what I feel on a day to day basis\, my state of mind\, these thing all feed into the work. In that sense the work is very personal\, and is about myself.

SUMMARY:CRS Healing Circle: Meditation + Whirling Prayer
DESCRIPTION:Join us Thursday\, April 18\, 2019 at 7:15 pm for our monthly Healing Circle + Whirling (Sufi Dance) Prayer led by CRS co-founder Christopher Pelham and Sufi Dance Artist Lale Sayoko. We gather to let go of our small selves and remember our divinity within. \nThis month we’ll celebrate the earthiness of spring with live didgeridoo sound healing by Evan Worldwind\, drumming/percussion by all of us and incense handmade from local plants by Queen of Incense. \nBring in any issue — relationship trauma\, #metoo\, disease\, money issue\, depression — and surrender it to Spirit. Remember who you are. Receive new guidance. Experience love’s presence in a safe and supportive community. Heal yourself and others. We will enjoy herbal tea and a snack at the end — social time! \nPlease feel free to bring your frame drum\, rattle\, flute\, whistle\, chimes\, singing bowl\, or other instrument. You don’t need to be experienced. Together\, we will learn to listen to one another\, play together\, and express ourselves and find Oneness of intention. \nPlease do not eat for two hours before the start to reduce your chance of feeling sick during the whirling\, and wear only solid colors as patterns can distract the eyes of those who are whirling. \nThe participation fee is $20 with advanced registration and $25 at the door. Direct registration link:\nhttps://www.crsny.org \nThrough whirling\, we learn to trust ourselves to go off balance\, to be dizzy\, to surrender control as we give ourselves over to prayer and connect with a greater power\, the still center within\, around which we turn\, that we may share our divine strength and bear witness to the divinity in others. \nIf you are quiet and in a state of prayer when you Turn\, offering everything of yourself to God\, then when your body is spinning\, there is a completely still point in the center… The heavens respond; and all the invisible kingdoms join in the dance. But the world does not understand. They think we Turn in order to go into some sort of trance. It is true that sometimes we do go into that state you call ecstasy\, but that is only when we know and experience at the same time. We do not Turn for ourselves. We turn around in the way we do so that the Light of God may descend upon the earth. As you act as a conduit in the Turn\, the light comes through the right hand\, and the left hand brings it into this world… We turn for God and for the world\, and it is the most beautiful thing you can imagine. — Mevlevi Shaikh Suleyman Hyatt Dede \nSufi Dance Instructor Lále Sayoko was one of the founding members of Japan’s famous Samanyolu professional bellydance group\, and has since developed her own solo career touring with UK’s Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers on a 44 city tour of the UK\, to Turkey’s Baba Zula\, to New York’s Bella Gaia multimedia Earth from Space journey show. Appearing in Japanese and American magazines and newspapers\, Lale aspires for dance to be a powerful communicator though traditional technique and spiritual embodiment. She has lately been studying Sufi dance with Rana Gorgani and in April 2018 Gorgani awarded her the International Sufi Dance Certification Of Cid UNESCO\, granting her authority to teach Gorgani’s method of Sufi dance training.\nhttp://www.lalesayoko.com \nYasuko Kasaki (meditation/prayer) is an internationally beloved spiritual writer\, counselor\, healer\, lecturer and translator from Tokyo\, Japan. The founder of CRS (Center for Remembering & Sharing)\, the first and only spiritual center devoted to the teaching and practice of A Course in Miracles (ACIM) in New York City\, she is widely recognized as the person most responsible for the spread of ACIM throughout Japan. He is the Director and co-founder of CRS (Center for Remembering & Sharing). He has also taught and/or offered healing in London\, in Japan\, at the 2018 Awakening to the One Mind Retreat\, and at the 2017 Enlight Festival of A Course in Miracles in Ibiza\, Spain.

SUMMARY:Whirling (Sufi Dance) Practice with Live Music
DESCRIPTION:Sufis\, lovers\, mystics\, CRS and Sufi Artist Lale Sayoko invite you to join us for an hour of meditative whirling known as Sufi dance or Sema (Sama in Iranian). This is not a class (i.e. there is no instruction) but an open space where we can come together to practice and is open to people of all backgrounds who whirl and follow the path of oneness. This month Tomchess of the American Sufi Project will honor us by playing live music for us. \nYou should already know the basics of how to whirl. If you have not already learned whirling from a Sufi teacher — for example\, from our teachers Rana Gorgani\, Lale Sayoko\, or Paola Garcia\, or at one of our whirling events\, or from a Sufi lodge or community — please first attend our Sufi Dance Class with Lale Sayoko\, which takes places the first Thursday of each month from 7:30 – 9 pm at CRS\, to learn the basics. Sayoko is also available for private instruction weekdays and weekends by appointment. \nThis Whirling Practice with Live Music will usually take place on the fourth Friday of each month from 7 – 8 pm\, and live music will be provided each time by one of our musician friends. In February and March\, the fourth Friday falls the day after the third Thursday\, when our Healing Circles are held\, so in those and other such months we will endeavor to have live music and whirling in our Healing Circles (meaning there will be no fourth Friday events in those months). \nPlease remember that whirling commonly induces dizziness or nausea. Avoid eating a large meal for two hours prior to class. Over time\, through whirling\, we learn to trust ourselves to go off balance\, to be dizzy\, to surrender control\, allowing us to whirl for longer periods. You do not have to whirl for the entire hour\, but you are encouraged to explore whether your perceived limits are immutable or only self-imposed. \nWe empty our minds of all thoughts of the individual self as we give ourselves over to prayer and connect with a greater power\, the still center within\, around which we turn. Into this emptiness floods a divine fullness\, which sometimes gives rise to a state known as “mystical intoxication\,” a reflection of knowing and experiencing that you and I and the Divine are One. Together we can take courage and inspiration from one another and strengthen our practice. \nPlease wear comfortable clothing (white\, gray or black color is preferable\, avoiding prints and shiny material which might distract the eye while whirling) and wear socks or soft soled shoes. If you have a whirling skirt\, please feel free to bring it. \n$20 with advance registration\, $25 at the door \nLearn more about Sufi dance:\nhttp://www.ranagorgani.com/10-things-about-sufi-dance/ \nAbout Sufi Dance Artist Lâle Sayoko \nSayoko was one of the founding members of Japan’s famous Samanyolu professional bellydance group\, and has since developed her own solo career touring with UK’s Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers on a 44 city tour of the UK\, to Turkey’s Baba Zula\, and with New York’s Bella Gaia multimedia Earth from Space journey show. She presents a new type of mochi that doesn’t quite exist in Japan by infusing New York’s locally-produced ingredients with Japan’s popular traditional desserts —the stuffed mochi rounds\, such as daifuku and sakura-mochi — and mixing in rin\, the element of restrained grace.\nWebsite: rin-nyc.com | https://www.instagram.com/rin_nyc\nphoto courtesy mochi Rin \n

SUMMARY:ASCA — Adult Survivors of Child Abuse Support Group
DESCRIPTION:ASCA New York City is a support group for adult survivors of child abuse. We meet weekly to give one another emotional support and an opportunity for expression of feelings\, thoughts\, memories\, hopes\, insights\, and education on the subject of child abuse. \nOur meetings follow the Adult Survivors of Child Abuse (ASCA) program as designed by the Morris Center in San Francisco. The format is similar to that of 12-step programs with some significant differences. Similarities include directed readings\, short and long shares\, absence of cross-talk\, and mutual support. Differences include the replacement of the 12 steps with a list of 21 steps that are more relevant to survivors of child abuse. For more information on our meeting format\, visit the ASCA website. \nWhat Is the Basic Meeting Format? \nOpening Comments by Co-Secretaries\, Readings\nPresenter (maximum 15 minutes)\nFeedback to Presenter (10 minutes)\nShares (maximum 5 minutes each)\nClosure Comments\nAnnouncements & Closing \nWhat Do I Have to Do at Meetings? \nYou do not have to do anything. You do not have to introduce yourself and do not have to speak. You can just sit and listen if you like. This is a no pressure situation. We try to keep the atmosphere easy going and friendly. \nHow Many People Attend Meetings? \nWe average 20+ people per meeting. \nWhat Types of Child Abuse Do You Discuss? \nWe discuss the whole gamut of forms of abuse including incest\, sexual abuse by non-relatives\, violence\, emotional and verbal abuse\, and neglect. \nWhat Is the Demographic Background of Meeting Participants? \nWe have people of many races\, religions\, ethnic backgrounds\, and life style choices. We have both men and women\, most meetings with a 50-50 split by gender. Our participants cover the adult age range. \nCan I Join? \nWe welcome any person who is recovering from child abuse except for those who are currently perpetrating abuse on others (See note 6 below.). \nOur Meetings are classified as Open drop-in. This means that a newcomer to the ASCA meeting is always welcomed into the group. Participants come when they want. There is no set commitment to attending ASCA meetings and no requirement to participate. If you like\, you can just get comfortable in your chair and watch. \nTo ensure cooperation and safety in our meeting\, we observe the following guidelines: \nPlease arrive on time and remain until the conclusion of the meeting. Latecomers will be asked to wait outside so that speakers who are sharing are not interrupted. There are two opportunities for entry – 1) just prior to the main presenter about 10 minutes into the meeting\, and 2) just prior to the share period approximately 35 minutes into the meeting. No one will be allowed in after this last time.\nASCA meetings are exclusively for survivors of physical\, sexual\, or emotional childhood abuse. \nThis is an anonymous meeting. Only first names are used.\nWhat you hear today is told in confidence and should not be repeated outside this meeting. \nWe ask that no one attend our meeting under the influence of alcohol or drugs\, unless the medication is prescribed by a physician. \nASCA meetings are not intended for survivors who are currently perpetrating abuse on others. Talking about past or present perpetrator type behavior is not permissible. \nLanguage that is considered derogatory concerning race\, gender\, ethnicity\, religion\, sexual orientation or other minority status is unacceptable in our meeting. \nBy participating in this meeting we all agree to abide by the spirit of ASCA\, our guidelines and any interventions by the Co-Secretaries. \nFor more info\, visit the ASCA New York web site:\nhttp://sites.google.com/site/ascanewyork/

SUMMARY:Chakra Balancing Meditation
DESCRIPTION:As a group\, we tone the sacred sounds of each chakra 7 times\, creating an energetic flow that loosens and removes blockages and releases negative energy stored within. The sound of the toning creates a vibrational reaction within the body\, which causes stillness and relaxation. We begin with a breathing exercise\, followed by toning\, and ending with an open circle to share the experience and/or ask questions. This is a meditation\, and a self-healing practice. Chakra balancing meditation is excellent for the beginner and the experienced.  \n We all have seven main chakras that sit along the center of the spinal column. The body is a vehicle of consciousness\, and the chakras are where consciousness and matter (the physical body) meet. Together the seven chakras form a profound formula for wholeness that integrates mind\, body and spirit. Making sure they are balanced is essential to our daily and long term lives. They house the consciousness around our survival and safety\, emotions\, sexulaity\, creativity\, self-esteem\, imagination\, our knowingness\, our ability to love and be loved. Emotions such as fear\, stress\, shame\, guilt\, grief\, lies and the ego all block the chakras creating an imbalanced system. Having an imbalanced chakra system can result in physical symptoms in their corresponding body parts and organs.  \nRSVP by email \n\nJoshua Dorfman is a metaphysical teacher and healer who uses his clairvoyant and empathic abilities to support others looking for more balance and deep spiritual healing. Born extrasensory\, he always had a gift enabling him to know things beyond the physical\, like feeling the energy of a person\, or situation\, knowing people’s true intentions and when something bad was going to happen. As he grew\, he came across various mentors who passed onto him\, great spiritual wisdom. For many years\, Joshua has been self taught\, guided by an “inner voice” toward books and information around the subject of energy healing\, psychic ability and the power of sound\, to name a few. READ MORE >>

SUMMARY:Miracles in Manhattan with Dr. Jon Mundy: Indra’s Net of Jewels with special guest Christina Strutt
DESCRIPTION:CRS presents Miracles in Manhattan\, lectures on the teachings of A Course in Miracles (ACIM) and related texts and topics by Jon Mundy\, Ph.D. and occasional guest lecturers\, hosted by CRS Founder Yasuko Kasaki. \nMay’s lecture will explore the topic ”Indra’s Net of Jewels — Going Quantum in a 3-D World” with guest Christina Strutt. Imagine the universe as an infinite net spreading in all directions with no beginning or end. At every node is strung a multi-faceted jewel\, each one reflecting all others in an ever changing cocreative flow. Each jewel a fractal of consciousness\, a living organism; both a microcosm of the whole and inseparable from the whole; both uniquely distinct and essential to the integrity of the net; the whole and the parts in organic unity. This is the Vedic metaphor of Indra’s Net of Jewels\, written in Sanskrit some five thousand years ago. And today\, Quantum Science\, with discoveries like the uncertainty principle and nonlocal entanglement\, seems to be demonstrating the reality of this metaphor. Bring your curiosity\, willingness\, and playfulness – join in as a Jewel in the Net and Go Quantum! \n~ $25 per person with advanced purchase online\, by phone (212-677-8621) or at CRS until the day before the lecture~\n~ $30 per person at the door ~\nAs long as space is available\, “No one is ever turned away who cannot pay.” Contribute what you can. \nThe lectures are held on the 2nd Sunday of the month (but 1st Sunday in May). \nAlthough we would\, of course\, prefer to share with you in class\, Miracles in Manhattan classes are now also being offered via life-streaming (technology allowing) for those who cannot attend the class in-person. The day of the class\, go to our YouTube Channel:\nhttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwxH3nWSMFDGA1SiR9kAbeg\nand choose the live-streaming button. If it’s not there\, it means there are technical difficulties\, but it should still be posted here about a week later. \nDr. Jon Mundy is an author\, lecturer\, the publisher of Miracles magazine\, and the Executive Director of All Faiths Seminary International in New York City. He met Dr. Helen Schucman\, the scribe for A Course in Miracles\, in 1973. Helen introduced Jon to the Course and served as his mentor and guide till she became ill in 1980. He is the author of Living A Course in Miracles\, which is now available in eight languages. After Return to Love by Marianne Williamson\, it is currently the best-selling book based on the teaching of A Course in Miracles. He taught courses in Philosophy and Religion from 1967 to 2008 at the New School University and the State University of New York with a specialization in The History of Mysticism. He is the author of 12 books\, his most recent being A Course in Mysticism and Miracles published by Red Wheel Weiser. drjonmundy.com  www.miraclesmagazine.org \nChristina Strutt is devoted to living and expressing love in form – each moment wholeheartedly and intentionally joining in cocreating joy\, abundance\, harmony\, and clarity as best she can wherever she isand whomever she is with. She was born in Malaysia and spent her most formative years in the egalitarian\, then newly independent Republic of Singapore surrounded by diverse cultures and faiths. At age eighteen\, she left Singapore to study Computer Science in the UK where she lived and worked for ten years before moving to the US in 1980. When invited\, she enjoys sharing her current questions and answers which reflect her years of lived experience\, including forty-five as a Systems Engineer/Systems Thinker\, twenty-six living A Course in Miracles\, and ten living A Course of Love. Her greatest delight lies in discovering ever more expansiveand inclusive\, yet practical answers\, which she has noticed seem to arrive in perfect timing as her ability to live them grows to match her willingness. Since 2010\, she has also shared her unique synthesis of experience through her practice – CoCreating Clarity. Her most valuable and practical experiences are distilled and shared at www.CoCreatingClarity.org. Enjoy insights inspired by her 2019 call to all willing hearts – ‘Indra’s Net of Jewels: Going Quantum in a 3D World’ – and join the ongoing dialogue at  https://www.facebook.com/CCCSelf/ \nMiracles in Manhattan host Yasuko Kasaki is an internationally beloved spiritual writer\, counselor\, healer\, lecturer and translator from Tokyo\, Japan. The founder of CRS (Center for Remembering & Sharing)\, the first and only spiritual center devoted to the teaching and practice of A Course in Miracles (ACIM) in New York City\, she is widely recognized as the person most responsible for the spread of ACIM throughout Japan. She has taught and worked with thousands of people from around the world to help resolve their mental and physical issues and witness miracles. She is the author of 16 books in Japanese about ACIM\, as well as numerous novels\, short stories\, essays and collections of photographs. Her translations of the ACIM Workbook and books by ACIM writers Jon Mundy\, Gabrielle Bernstein and David Hoffmeister and others have also been published in Japan. Meditation and communication with Holy Spirit form the foundation of her classes. yasukokasaki.com

SUMMARY:Crossing Boundaries Concert Series Vol. 4: FOUR SYSTEMS
DESCRIPTION:CRS (Center for Remembering & Sharing) presents Crossing Boundaries Concert Series Vol. 4:  Four Systems\, curated by JunYi Chow. Four daring improvisers and acclaimed performers of traditional music from different cultures  — Chatori Shimizu (Shō\, Japan)\, gamin (Piri and Saenghwang\, Korea)\, JunYi Chow (Cello\, Malaysia)\, and Yunzhuo Gan (Yangqin\, China) — invite mayhem and unlock surprising congruities by improvising over four compositions inspired by their respective cultures\, stitched together through an imaginative graphic notation using visual symbols of their own choosing. \nThis graphic notation will be projected behind the performers\, so the audience can connect visually with the the music and imagine their own choices\, allowing everyone within the space — composer\, performer\, and audience — to participate in the process of creating connection and meaning through play. A conversation with the artists will take place following the concert. \nThis is the first of eight concerts in the series during 2019 and will take place on May 10\, 2019 at 8 pm at CRS. \nTickets are $25 in advance $30 at the door. Students and seniors with valid ID can purchase tickets for $20 at the door. Tickets are available online at crsny.org\, by phone (212-677-8621)\, and at CRS. \nABOUT THE PERFORMERS \nChatori Shimizu (b. 1990) is a Germany based composer\, shō performer\, and sound artist\, who constructs his works for a wide range of mediums concerning the time identity in sound. Ranging from orchestral works to sound installations\, all of his works engage in repetitive patterns of sound motifs\, which aims for the slightest change in the pattern to act as an accent. As the First Prize Winner of the 2016 Malta International Composition Competition\, Shimizu’s works have been performed and exhibited throughout Australia\, Canada\, China\, France\, Germany\, Japan\, South Korea\, the Netherlands\, Poland\, Serbia\, Thailand\, United Kingdom\, and the United States\, by acclaimed ensembles and musicians such as Hidejiro Honjoh\, Ensemble Multilatérale\, Mayumi Miyata\, mise-en\, Mivos Quartet\, Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra\, Sound Factory Orchestra\, among others. Shimizu has been awarded fellowships from Columbia University School of the Arts\, Institute of Medieval Japanese Studies\, the Mitsubishi Foundation\, Omi International Arts Center\, Soundstreams\, Toshiba Foundation\, and Yaddo. His music scores are published from United Music & Media Publishing\, Belgium. \nAs an active researcher in the compositional approaches of the shō\, he has conducted numerous lectures and demonstrations regarding the notation and the extended techniques of Japanese instruments in universities worldwide\, such as Baruch College\, Cornell University\, The Graduate Center at CUNY\, Manhattan School of Music\, University of Hawaii at Manoa\, Conservatorio de Música de Puerto Rico\, National Gugak Center Korea\, Tamagawa University\, among others. \nShimizu was born in Osaka\, Japan\, and spent his formative years in Singapore. Upon receiving the Professional Diploma in Piano Performance with High Honors at age twelve\, he studied computer music and composition with Shintaro Imai and Motoharu Kawashima at Kunitachi College of Music\, Tokyo\, graduating with the Arima Prize. He received his MFA from Columbia University\, New York City\, where he studied at the Computer Music Center with Brad Garton and Zosha Di Castri. Shimizu currently studies composition with Mark Andre and Franz Martin Olbrisch at Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber in Dresden. He serves as Co-Artistic Director of Composers’ Collective Tesselat. \ngamin is a traditional Korean musician\, trained in jeongak — the classical music of the court —and sinawi — the collaborative improvisation that accompanies Korean shamanic ritual. One of the most celebrated piri and taepyeongso (Korean oboes)\, and saengwhang (mouth organ) performers in Korea\, she now pursues many interdisciplinary projects in collaboration with international artists. From 2000 to 2010\, she was a member of the Contemporary Gukak Orchestra at the National Gukak Center\, the hub for training and preserving Korean traditional music. Currently\, as a yisuja* of the Important Intangible Cultural Asset No. 46 for piri and Daechita\, she tries to preserve traditional music\, and enhances the tradition as well. *yisuja is a title designated to someone who mastered a course study of intangible cultural assets of Korea. jeonsuja is a lower title. \nSince leaving orchestral work behind nine years ago\, gamin has taken these skills in unexpected directions. She teaches and performs regularly at a number of universities in the U.S. and Korea. She received a grant from the Korean Ministry of Culture\, Sports\, and Tourism in 2011 and has performed at Harvard\, Northwestern\, Dartmouth\, etc. and in Paris\, Strasbourg\, Freibrug\, and Karlsruhe. She has published a book on the piri\, released three albums\, and has been an artist-in-residence at the UPenn James Joo-Jin Kim Program in Korean Studies since 2012. She is “a true pioneer and innovator\, leading these instruments in exciting new directions” — Ralph Samuelson (senior advisor of the Asian Cultural Council). \nJunYi Chow is a Malaysia-born New York-based Composer\, Multi-instrumentalist and Improviser. Chow’s composition has been lauded by the Financial Times for its “skilful contrasts in both volume and texture.” His thorough knowledge of skills and characteristics of both Chinese and Western instruments has made him a leading figure in merging music of East and West. His album “A Traveler’s Portrait” in collaboration with Seungmin Cha (South Korea) was nominated for a Global Music Award in 2018. \nAs an active researcher in the music for Chinese Orchestra\, Chow’s The TENG Guide to the Chinese Orchestra (co-author with Samuel Wong and Chenwei Wang) serves as a one-stop guide for composers\, scholars and enthusiasts alike. \nChow is currently the music conductor of New York Chinese Music Ensemble. As a pianist and cellist\, Chow plays classical repertoire as well as free improvisations. \nYunzhuo Gan graduated from Shanghai Conservatory of Music in Composition and dulcimer major. She got her second Master of Music in Composition at Manhattan School of Music. Yunzhuo studied with Marjorie Merryman. \nAs a Chinese Dulcimer performer\, she has performed throughout the world. Notably\, she twice played for the former president of China at the Shanghai World Expo and Paralympic Games\, and performed at the Cannes International Film Festival and Prague Spring Music Festival etc. \nAs a composer\, she wrote the music and songs for the Chinese film “The Continuation of Love” which wins both “Second batch of key recommended film” and “5.12 Wenchuan Earthquake Memorial Tribute film” prize. She held a concert that was called “The Charm” in Carnegie Hall as a major composer and Dulcimer performer. Her works were presented in Merkin Hall\, The New Jersey Performing Arts Center\, National Sawdust and Brooklyn Center etc. \nYunzhuo has won prizes from the EACA International Composition Competition and the TMSK Lithuania National Composition Competition and “Confucius” National Composition Competition. \nABOUT CROSSING BOUNDARIES \nNow in its second year\, CROSSING BOUNDARIES is a performance series devoted to creating unforgettable live art experiences that dissolve boundaries between performers and audiences\, traditional and new music\, and the local and the global\, bringing people together and promoting the awareness that we each possess a limitless creativity inside us.  \nCRS has from its inception in 2004 attracted many people from abroad\, and has become known for presenting healing\, arts\, and cultural programs from around the world and from Asia in particular. This season\, which is supported by a grant from the LMCC\, is curated by three outstanding artists of Asian descent:  gamin\, Jen Shyu\, and JunYi Chow. There is a long tradition of interdisciplinarity in Asian arts\, where ritual practices have always involved elements of dance\, theatre\, improvised music\, and storytelling\, and this season will build on that tradition. \nLearn about the 2019 Season Curators \nView the 2019 Season Announcement \nCrossing Boundaries is made possible in part with public funds from Creative Engagement\, supported by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council and the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and administered by LMCC. LMCC empowers artists by providing them with networks\, resources\, and support\, to create vibrant\, sustainable communities in Manhattan and beyond. \n \n  \n  \n  \n \n

SUMMARY:Freedom of the Mind Concert & Talk with Vocalist Neda Boin & Inspirational Speaker Jeffrey Cosker
DESCRIPTION:CRS (Center for Remembering & Sharing) welcomes back our beloved friend the award-winning singer-songwriter and voice liberation practitioner Neda Boin and inspirational speaker Jeffrey Cosker for the last event of their Freedom of the Mind Tour! Join us for an evening full of miracle stories\, questions & answers\, inspired music\, and voice liberation. \n“Do you want to have freedom of the body or of the mind? For both you cannot have.” \nMany of you will know Neda from our recent Living in the Light Course in Miracles weekend. For those of you who don’t\, she is a singer songwriter from The Netherlands. Her recently released record “The Light Has Come\,” was named Best Album of the Year at the Rotterdam Music Awards. Amazingly\, Neda\, a student of A Course in Miracles (ACIM) for 8+ years\, channeled all the songs on the album in just two weeks\, all inspired from ACIM Workbook lessons\, making it the first album inspired by ACIM to win album of the year. Profoundly spiritual in nature\, the songs are deeply satisfying as songs\, with beautiful and irresistible music colored with soul\, jazz and world music inflections\, brought to soaring life by Neda’s angelic voice. \n“Neda’s music is a way to merge with the Spirit and feel the absolute glory of Divine Love. Her amazing voice enhances the lyrics from Heaven\, and my soul is lifted every time I listen.” — David Hoffmeister\, author of Unwind Your Mind Back to God \nJeffrey lived the life of “having it all” and still felt like the world couldn’t give him what he needed. After a revelatory experience as a result of a moment of surrender in the program of recovery he found the Course in Miracles and completely turned his life over to following the direction of Spirit. He is now living a life devoted to forgiveness. His experiences in life\, lightheartedness\, and total commitment to Awakening allow people from all different backgrounds to experience a safety to open up with him. With a deep passion for mind training\, strong focus\, and determination to see things differently\, Jeffrey is a beautiful demonstration of the transformation that happens when you turn your life over to a higher purpose. \nThese two mighty companions came together to join for a beautiful tour\, with the intention of finding freedom within themselves instead of in the world. Join them for an evening never to forget! \nTickets are available online\, by phone (212-677-8621)\, and at CRS. Concert tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door ($20 at the door for students/seniors with valid ID). \n\nNeda also developed a way to use the voice to facilitate the forgiveness practice that the Course teaches in a very deep way. It’s a unique way to use your voice to instantly go to the wound\, express it through sound and then release it in a very liberating way. You can learn more about Neda Boin on her web site at nedaboin.com. \nVoice Liberation Testimonials:\n“We laughed together\, we cried together\, we sang together\, and we prayed together. I truly felt that each member of the workshop was my spiritual brother and sister and I felt enveloped in oneness with a loving God. If you are tired of reading books about spirituality\, come to this workshop and get a taste of the real thing.” – Elisabeth \n“I would like to write my testimonial\, but I just cry and cry and cry when I think about it. Tears of gratitude.” – Laura \n“I experienced what seemed like a true heart opening where it actually felt like my heart cracked open and many tears flowed. I don’t have words for this experience except that it felt like a profound healing.” – Marti

SUMMARY:CRS Healing Circle: Meditation + Whirling Prayer
DESCRIPTION:Join us Thursday\, May 16\, 2019 at 7:15 pm for our monthly Healing Circle + Whirling (Sufi Dance) Prayer led by CRS co-founders Yasuko Kasaki and Christopher Pelham and Sufi Dance Artist Lále Sayoko. We gather to let go of our small selves and remember our divinity within. Meditation and communication with Holy Spirit form the foundation of her classes.\nhttp://www.yasukokasaki.com \nChristopher Pelham is a spiritual healer/counselor/teacher/artist who draws on practices from ACIM\, Non-Violent Communication\, improvisational theater\, Sufism\, and contemporary shamanism to help people remember who they really are. He is the Director and co-founder of CRS (Center for Remembering & Sharing). He has also taught and/or offered healing in London\, in Japan\, at the 2018 Awakening to the One Mind Retreat\, and at the 2017 Enlight Festival of A Course in Miracles in Ibiza\, Spain.\nhttp://www.chrispelham.com

SUMMARY:Voice Liberation Workshop with Neda Boin
DESCRIPTION:Use your voice to liberate your soul!\nCRS welcomes back Netherlands-based singer-songwriter\, spiritual guide and Voice Liberation facilitator Neda Boin for a Voice Liberation workshop. \nVoice liberation is a unique way where the voice is used to facilitate deep spiritual healing. Weather you belief you’re a great singer or not\, using your voice has the powerful ability to instantly bring up the root of our seeming problems\, which are the false thoughts we believe about ourselves; ‘I’m not good enough’\, ‘I don’t deserve love’\, ‘I’m on my own’\, ‘nobody truly cares about me’\, etc. Neda intuitively guides us to allow these beliefs to come up to the surface\, so that they can be seen and heard and so that we can unwind ourselves from these false beliefs and re-discover who we really are. \nThe workshop will take place on Saturday\, May 18\, 2019 from 1 – 5:30 pm in the award-winning White Room at CRS (named by Homes to Love as one of nine yoga studios around the world “that achieve design nirvana”) and costs $100 with advance registration and $120 at the door. \nNeda’s first album\, “The Light Has Come\,” inspired by the A Course in Miracles (ACIM) Workbook lessons\, was named Best Album of the Year at the Rotterdam Music Awards. She is now touring the U.S.\, sharing her songs and stories\, bringing people together through music to bring us all home. She will also be performing and trading spiritual stories with inspirational speaker Jeffrey Cosker at CRS on Saturday\, May 11\, 2019 from 7 – 9pm. \nVoice liberation is not about singing beautifully\, even though when singing from a deep place within yourself where only Love abides\, it is inevitable that your voice will touch many hearts… Spirit will facilitate emotional healing by guiding you to get in touch with and express your Inner Voice. You will be supported in using your voice as a gateway to allow what is ready to come up to the surface to be released. If you’re ready for a miraculous trip that will lead you out of ‘the rabbit-hole\,’ this is it! \nTake a look here to get an impression of one of the voice liberation retreats: \n\n\n\nNeda Boin is a singer songwriter from Rotterdam in The Netherlands. In 2013 Neda won both the audience and the jury prizes at the Music Matters Awards\, which made her the music ambassador of Rotterdam for one whole year. Shortly after\, she graduated from the music conservatory of Rotterdam with a Bachelor of Music. She successfully released her first EP\, “When Lambs Become Lions\,” in October 2014. She also started giving songwriting workshops in juvenile prison\, which she is currently still doing. In 2015 Neda convinced all four coaches of “The Voice” of Holland to turn their chairs around for her\, and she made it all the way to the last eight contestants. A student of A Course in Miracles for 8+ years\, she channeled her latest album\, “The Light Has Come” over a period of two weeks in 2018. Lyrics for each of the songs were inspired by ACIM Workbook lessons. Profoundly spiritual in nature\, the songs are also deeply satisfying as songs\, with beautiful and irresistible music colored with soul\, jazz and world music inflections\, brought to soaring life by Neda’s angelic voice\, and the album went on to win Album of the Year at the Rotterdamn Music Awards! Neda has lately been using her Course experiences and musical gifts to teach Voice Liberation workshops at David Hoffmeister’s Living Miracles Monastery and elsewhere. nedaboin.com \n\n\n\n\nNeda’s own journey with Voice Liberation in her own words:\nI’ve always been singing with al of my heart and soul. But when in 2012  I started my second year in the conservatory of music in Rotterdam\, it felt as though that deep liberating feeling I used to feel when singing as a kid\, was blocked. I was focused on singing perfectly\, on doing it ‘right’. It felt very confusing for me to not have singing feel connected to pure joy anymore and I even thought about dropping out of the conservatory. I wanted to sing freely again\, from love\, from a place of peace where I could just be sung through\, instead of trying so hard. I wanted to find and give expression to my inner voice! \nAs out of heaven\, the ‘Voice liberation academy’ by Jan Kortie\, ‘Ode an die freude’ (named after Bethoven’s 9th symphony\, meaning ‘Ode to joy!) came on my path and I finished my two remaining years of conservatory at the same time as the voice liberation academy. Voice liberation gave me back my joy and effortlessness in singing. It brought me back in touch with my true Inner Voice and helped me open up to sing from a very vulnerable and honest place. \nI never went into the voice liberation academy with the thought I’d be leading voice liberation sessions and retreats myself. I went in to free my own voice\, and to be free while performing! Yet\, Spirit clearly had more in store! In the spring of 2017\, I all of the sudden felt strongly prompted to let David Hoffmeister know that I felt I was supposed to give voice liberation sessions at his one month Tabula Rasa retreat. He was all in for it and I was amazed to feel how easily Spirit was working through me\, using the tools of voice liberation to facilitate deep healing. \nSince then\, I’ve been asked for many more retreats and group sessions all over the world. \n\n\nABOUT CRS (Center for Remembering & Sharing)\n\nCRS is a healing and art center founded in 2004 by the Japanese spiritual writer/counselor/lecturer Yasuko Kasaki and her students. It is the first and only center in New York City devoted to the study and practice of A Course in Miracles. Everyone has something precious to give. Our mission is to help you to discover\, develop\, and use your gift\, and to appreciate the joy of sharing it. ACIM says that salvation occurs when you are with your brother. When you know the truth about your brother\, you will know the truth of who you truly are\, because you will recognize that you and your brother are actually one. We offer support to those who bear witness to the truth\, which is something that everyone is capable of doing and sharing.

SUMMARY:The Rules of Love: A Sufi Dance Workshop
DESCRIPTION:CRS (Center for Remembering & Sharing) invites you to join our whirling community for an intensive workshop in Sufi Dance (sema or samâسمع in Arabic and Farsi) led by Sufi dance artists & CRS instructors Paola García and Lâle Sayoko. Samâ means spiritual listening and its accompanying whirling dance embodies unity: unity within our own selves first\, and with the outer world and “others” second. Both beginners and more experienced whirlers and people of all faiths and ages are welcome. Together\, let’s experience the peace and blissfulness that come with accepting all feelings that arise during our practice\, including the uncomfortable. \nIn this workshop\, you will learn whirling technique and experience several meditation-in-motion exercises meant to facilitate connection with the deepest parts of our selves. You will also learn essential facts and some history about Sufism. This will promote an understanding of how we can benefit from the wisdom of this ancient tradition in a way that is deeply relevant and applicable to our experience as modern beings. Poetry and sacred music will be important components of this workshop. Those with prior experience will learn more advanced techniques and be led deeper into their practice. Finally\, there will be time to whirl with live musical accompaniment\, always a magical experience! \n“Dancing is not just getting up painlessly\, like a leaf blown on the wind; dancing is when you tear your heart out and rise out of your body to hang suspended between the worlds.”\n– Jalal ad-Din Rumi. \nSufi whirling is called the dance of the soul because of its ability to liberate the dancer’s soul from the prison of the body. A background in dance is not necessary to benefit from the alchemy and spiritual richness of this practice\, derived from Islamic mysticism. Cathartic and powerful\, this practice is life-altering\, exerting an irresistible pull on those who are called to it\, and therefore meant to remove their veils and witness the intoxicating light of the divinity that lies at the core of our human essence. \nThis workshop will be organized around Shams of Tabriz’s Rules of Love. We will discuss these at length and incorporate several of them in various exercises throughout our dance. Shams of Tabriz is a central figure of Sufism. He was a wandering Persian mystic who lived at the end of the 12thcentury and the man who transformed Rumi from an orthodox religious scholar and preacher to a poet\, mystic\, and lover. \nHow we see God is a direct reflection of how we see ourselves; we don’t see things as they are\, we see them as we are. If God brings to mind mostly fear and blame\, it means there is too much fear and blame welled inside us. If we see God as full of love and compassion\, so are we. \nThe workshop fee is $70 until May 18 and $80 at the door. Registration is available online\, by phone (212-677-8621)\, and at CRS. \nPlease wear comfortable and solid colored clothing (all white\, all black…) only and no jewelry. Bring socks or flat dance slippers to dance in. If you have a whirling skirt\, you may bring it. Bring a notebook and pen and water bottle. \nDo not eat for at least a couple of hours before the workshop. \nLearn more about Sufi dance:\nhttps://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2016/09/196246/the-one-thing-in-the-world-you-must-never-forget/ \nAbout the Instructors \nPaola García is a Sufi dance artist certified by Persian master Rana Gorgani as a UNESCO international dance teacher. She holds a Master’s Degree in Islamic Studies from Columbia University. She is a writer\, Middle Eastern Studies researcher\, translator and student of Sufism. \nLâle Sayoko was one of the founding members of Japan’s famous Samanyolu professional bellydance group\, and has since developed her own solo career touring with UK’s Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers on a 44 city tour of the UK\, to Turkey’s Baba Zula\, and with New York’s Bella Gaia multimedia Earth from Space journey show. Lâle aspires for dance to be a powerful communicator though traditional technique and spiritual embodiment. She has lately been studying Sufi dance with Rana Gorgani\, and in April 2018 Gorgani awarded her the International Sufi Dance Certification Of Cid UNESCO\, granting her authority to teach Gorgani’s method of Sufi dance training. She teaches Sufi Dance on the 1st Thursday night of every month at CRS and leads the CRS Healing Circles + Whirling Prayer that take place every third Thursday night of the month. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Miracles in Manhattan: Robert Perry & Dr. Jon Mundy in Conversation
DESCRIPTION:CRS presents A Course in Miracles scholar Robert Perry in conversation with Miracles Magazine editor and longtime Course lecturer and author Jon Mundy\, Ph.D. and One Mind Foundation founder David Fishman about Perry’s groundbreaking work as lead editor of the Complete and Annotated Edition (CE) of A Course in Miracles. This special Wednesday night presentation of the Miracles in Manhattan lecture series will be the first public talk by Robert Perry in New York City in more than 20 years and will take place on Wednesday\, May 22\, 2019 at 7:30 pm. The evening will be MC’d by CRS Founder Yasuko Kasaki\, author of 16 books in Japanese about ACIM. \nThis program is co-sponsored by the Circle of Atonement and The One Mind Foundation. \nTickets are $30 in advance and $35 on the day of the event and are available online\, by phone (212-677-8621)\, and at CRS. \nMiracles in Manhattan (Youtube channel: http://bit.ly/2BM7Feg) is an ongoing series of lectures presented by CRS and given by Jon Mundy\, Ph.D. and occasional guest lecturers on the teachings of A Course in Miracles (ACIM) and related texts and topics. The lectures are regularly held on the 2nd Sunday of the month (but 1st Sunday in May). \nABOUT A COURSE IN MIRACES\nOriginally published in 1976\, A Course in Miracles has profoundly impacted the lives of millions of students around the globe and continues to grow in popularity each year. What many students don’t know\, however\, is that the handwritten notes that ultimately became the Course — which have remained hidden for decades — contain approximately 45\,000 words that are not included in the original publication. For almost ten years\, Robert Perry and his colleagues at the Circle of Atonement have worked to carefully transcribe these notes and the result is a new version of A Course in Miracles that — for the first time — contains the source material in its entirety. We hope you’ll join us for an inspiring evening of discussion and celebration of this important milestone in the history of a true spiritual masterpiece. \nRobert Perry\, editor of the Complete and Annotated Edition of A Course in Miracles\, is one of the Course’s most respected teachers. He began teaching the Course in 1986 and has shared its insights with students around the world. Robert’s work grows out of his dedication to the Course as his own path and his desire to assist others in their own spiritual development. Robert is the founder of the Circle of Atonement and the author or coauthor of more than 20 books and booklets based on the teachings of the Course. For more information and a library of articles to enhance your Course studies\, please visit www.circleofa.org. He is the author of 12 books\, his most recent being A Course in Mysticism and Miracles published by Red Wheel Weiser. drjonmundy.com  www.miraclesmagazine.org \nDavid Dov Fishman is a beloved teacher and mentor. He is the founder of the One Mind Foundation and for over 10 years he operated ACIM Gather\, the foundation upon which the Awakening Together Sanctuary is based. Dov’s knowledge and understanding of the principles of A Course in Miracles is legendary. He is indeed a true Teacher of Teachers. Dov teaches several times each week in the Awakening Together Sanctuary. \nMiracles in Manhattan host Yasuko Kasaki is an internationally beloved spiritual writer\, counselor\, healer\, lecturer and translator from Tokyo\, Japan. Meditation and communication with Holy Spirit form the foundation of her classes. yasukokasaki.com \nABOUT CRS (Center for Remembering & Sharing)\nCRS is a healing and art center founded in 2004 by the Japanese spiritual writer/counselor/lecturer Yasuko Kasaki and her students. SUMMARY:Exhibition: Celestial Mandala — Works on Paper by Heejung Kim
DESCRIPTION:CRS (Center for Remembering & Sharing) presents “Celestial Mandala\,” an exhibition featuring recent ink works on paper by Korean artist Heejung Kim. Her art is influenced by Tibetan Mandala paintings\, especially by the patterns and symbols found in them. Her star-like images come from actual dreams she has had since her childhood. Using repetition like the mantras in meditation\, Heejung pushes her creative visions into a hypnotic space carrying the viewer into a surreal sense of illusion and the feeling of moving through a vast void. The exhibition will be on view from May 31 – July 31\, 2019. \nThere will be an Opening Reception with short talk by the artist on May 31 from 7:30 – 8:30 pm in conjunction with Crossing Boundaries Concert Series Vol. 5 featuring Korean Traditional Music at 8:30 pm. This program has been curated by gamin\, with assistance from Suechung Koh\, Exhibitions Director & Curator at Gallery Yonhee at the Korean Community Center in NJ. \nAbout Artist Heejung Kim \nHeejung Kim produces both 2-D and 3-D artworks and the themes of her artworks stemmed from Buddhism\, her dream images\, and her own experiences. Kim has had numerous exhibitions nationally and her art has been reviewed in The New York Times and The Star-Ledger. Kim obtained an MA in Art Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and her MFA from SUNY at Stony Brook. She currently teaches at the Raritan Valley Community College. heejungkim.weebly.com \nHer artist statement can be found here.

DESCRIPTION:How much of the beauty of you\, have you been refusing to see because you’ve bought this reality’s barometer for what is to be considered beautiful? \nSarah Grandinetti and Cassy Summers invite you to look at outer beauty in a way that has never been done before. Together we will explore this topic and expose\, then clear out\, judgments we have around physical beauty and everything connected to it. This taster has some really fun yet dynamic exercises that we will play with as well as a beautiful mini manual to take home! \n2 DAY CLASS: June 1st & 2nd from 10 am – 5:30 pm\nhttp://bit.ly/IAmBeautyNYC \nOver the course of two days\, Sarah Grandinetti and Cassy Summers will go deeper into looking at outer beauty. There will also be exercises and discussions that will expose and clear out even more hidden judgement. When people hold judgements of our outer beauty in place we create them as solid\, they become a barrier upon ourselves that their inner beauty has to fight in order to be seen. This is stopping us from creating the life we actually desire. The class includes a journal and an audio recording of the class. \nAre you ready to unlock what you know about beauty? JOIN US!

Yeongsanhoesang has undergone continuous change with the current version taking form sometime in the 19th century. There are many versions of the suite\, which typically includes 8-9 pieces. While the genesis of the suite is not completely certain\, the first piece of the suite\, “Sangryeongsan” appears to be the foundation piece for the suite. The following pieces in the suite include variations on “Sangryeongsan\,” as well as standard musical forms and dance pieces of the Joseon era (1392-1910). \nABOUT THE PERFORMERS \ngamin is a traditional Korean musician\, trained in jeongak-the classical music of the court and sinawi-the collaborative improvisation that accompanies Korean shamanic ritual. Since leaving orchestral work behind eight years ago\, gamin has taken these skills in unexpected directions\, using her piri and taepyeongso (Korean oboes)\, and saengwhang (mouth organ) to pursue contemporary sounds and reach new audiences.\ngamin-music.com \nSangmi Kang is an Assistant Professor of Music Education at the Westminster Choir College of Rider University. As a professional performer on the gayageum (a traditional Korean stringed instrument)\, Dr. Kang has performed at several institutions\, among them the University of Florida\, Duke University\, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill\, and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.\nsangmikang.weebly.com/ \nHaegeum instrumentalist Minkyung Park is a recipient of 67th Chosun Daily Debut Concert and selected as 2006 Kumho Young Artist by Kumho Asiana Foundation for Arts and Culture who has discovered and supported nationally talented instrumentalists. She has performed at many prestigious venues internationally including ‘tea music – longing for friends’ in NYC\, combining art performance with harmonization of various genre of music and arts.\nparkminkyung.com \nABOUT THE ART EXHIBITION \nHeejung Kim will feature her recent ink works on paper together with her selected artist books created within the last 20 years. \nAbout Artist Heejung Kim   \nHeejung Kim produces both 2-D and 3-D artworks and the themes of her artworks stemmed from Buddhism\, her dream images\, and her own experiences. Kim had numerous exhibitions nationally and the reviews on her art works include “The New York Times” and “The Star-Ledger”. Kim obtained an MA in Art Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and her MFA from SUNY at Stony Brook. She currently teaches at the Raritan Valley Community College.\nheejungkim.weebly.com/ \nThe 2019 season of CROSSING BOUNDARIES is made possible in part with public funds from Creative Engagement\, supported by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council and the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and administered by LMCC. LMCC empowers artists by providing them with networks\, resources\, and support\, to create vibrant\, sustainable communities in Manhattan and beyond. \n  \n
