SUMMARY:Four Seasons in NY: Gems of Japanese Music
DESCRIPTION:CRS & Mar Creation\, Inc. invite you to discover traditional Japanese music by the acclaimed koto and shamisen player Yoko Reikano Kimura\, offered together with an exclusive taste of beautiful Japanese seasonal sweets prepared by Rin NYC. The next concert will take place in the award-winning White Room at CRS on Sunday\, April 1\, 2018 at 4 pm. Tickets are $25 and include delicious wagashi (sweets). Seating is limited and advanced purchased (online\, by phone 212-677-8621\, or in person at CRS) is encouraged. \nThis season’s program will include one song for shamisen (TBA) and two for koto: \nSekiheki no Fu – Prose-poem on the Red Cliff – (Kin’ichi Nakanoshima) koto\n Mittsu no Dansho – Three Fragments – (Kin’ichi Nakanoshima) koto \n“…Yoko Reikano Kimura\, playing the shamisen and singing\, is superb….” — New York Times \n“…Kimura’s performance on the solo shamisen was quite stunning. An elegant refined presence perfectly poised\, she played with precision\, beauty and the utmost confidence….” — San Francisco Examiner \nAfter many centuries\, the brilliance of traditional Japanese music is still being passed on to the present day. Come and experience the sounds of koto and shamisen and enjoy the taste of the four seasons here in New York. This concert series will feature each season’s representative traditional works along with the colorful and delicate Japanese style confectionaries. \nThis will be the third concert of Volume 3 of this seasonal series of music concerts called Four Seasons in New York — Gems of Japanese Music. The final concert in this season is planned for August 12 at 4 pm. \n\nEach season is expressed through ingredients. Spring traditionally begins with sakura (cherry blossoms)\, broccoli rabe\, strawberries and raspberries\, followed by elderflower\, rose\, edamame and sansho (Japanese pepper) in summer. As autumn approaches we’ll pick chrysanthemum\, apples\, grapes\, chestnuts and hazelnuts; and yuzu and kumquats in winter…. Even within one season\, the taste and the form change gradually from hashiri through nagori. \nmochi Rin / Bite-sized mochi dessert made with organic bean paste\, seasonally fruits and flowers in NY. \nWe present a new type of mochi that doesn’t quite exist in Japan\, by infusing New York’s locally-sourced ingredients into Japan’s popular traditional dessert —the stuffed mochi rounds\, such as daifuku and sakura-mochi — and mixing in rin\, the element of restrained grace.  http://www.rin-nyc.com \n  \n  \nMore about Yoko Reikano Kimura \nAs a frequent soloist and collaborator\, Japanese born Koto/Shamisen performer and singer Yoko Reikano Kimura has performed in NYC\, Chicago\, Tokyo\, Kyoto and many other cities\, featuring a wide-ranging repertoire from classical Japanese music to improvisational pieces. Yoko has won numerous awards including the First Prize at the prestigious 10th Kenjun Memorial National Koto Competition as the first Yamada style koto performer. She received the First Prize at the 4th Great Wall International Music Competition and the Osaka Chinese Counsel Award and won the Japanese music audition for NHK-FM radio and her solo shamisen performance was broadcasted nationally. Since then she has performed numerous koto and shamisen pieces for the radio and regularly toured internationally. \nSince Yoko moved to the US in 2010\, her mission has been to promote Japanese music to American audiences. As part of this mission she is performing and giving workshops at various venues\, such as the UN\, Merkin\, Bargemusic\, Roulette\, Princeton University\, Japan Society\, Harvard University\, Princeton University\, the New England Conservatory\, the University of Chicago\, Duke University and many others. http://www.yamadaryu.com/reikano/ \nAs part of the award-winning Duo Yumeno\, she has  released the album Flowers\, Birds\, Wind\, Moon:  The Music of Marty Regan. SUMMARY:Intro to The Spiritual Psychology of Acting with John Osborne Hughes
DESCRIPTION:CRS is delighted to welcome back renowned British acting teacher and director John Osborne Hughes for a fabulously entertaining introductory three day workshop in cutting edge actor training for mind\, body\, and soul. John is an extremely charismatic and compassionate soul who can teach you precisely what acting is and\, more importantly\, teach you to get out of your own way so that you\, too\, can perform with complete conviction\, integrity\, and charisma. \nFriday\, April 13 from  6.30 – 9.30 pm\nSaturday\, April 14th from 11 am – 5.45 pm\nSunday\, April 15  from 11 am – 5.45 pm \nWorkshop fee: $390 \nSPECIAL OFFER\nFrom now until Midnight on Sunday\, March\, 18 you will be able to purchase your place for the workshop for the special discounted price of $340. \nReserve you place now with a $195 deposit and pay the discounted balance on the first day. \nThe training is designed to create actors of the highest calibre; a delight to work with and ultimately an inspiration to watch. \nSimple meditation and practical exercises will be introduced to each student to assimilate the basic techniques. \nWARNING\nTHIS WORKSHOP WILL EXPAND YOUR MIND AND FREE YOUR SPIRIT! \nThe philosophy\, principles and techniques of the art acting for newcomers and professionals seeking something more… \nThe Spiritual Psychology of Acting is a unique fusion of the teachings of the great Russian stage directors of the 20th Century\, cutting edge Psychology and Spiritual Philosophy from both East and West. \nDuring the workshop you will learn: \n+ The Three main purposes of Theatre/ Cinematic Art.\n+ The principles of Great Acting.\n+ The Qualities of a Great Actor.\n+ Four Key Questions for designing a Character\n+ Mind Triads: The three essential elements of the Characters psyche.\n+ How to develop Awareness (the ability to observe our own thoughts)\, in order to dissolve creative blocks and gather material out of which we can create unique characters.\n+ The secrets of Charisma and Stage/Screen Presence. How to develop them.\n+ The psychology of casting. How to prepare for auditions like a pro.\n+ The Principles of Zen and the Art of Acting.\n+ Imagination and the actor \nTo really understand the essence of pure acting technique and the process of creating characters\,  the actor must first understand the psychological process which created his or her own character in life. Once we truly understand how these natural principles have created and shaped our own characters\, we can learn to harness this knowledge\, engage it at will and allow it to serve as our creative technique. \nThis rewarding and fascinating process not only creates truthful\, dynamic acting\, it also serves to to heal the actor of his or her own psychological limits and burdens\, thus providing the freedom of imagination to create any character. \nThe training is designed to create actors of the highest calibre; a delight to work with and ultimately an inspiration to watch. \nSimple meditation and practical exercises will be introduced to each student to assimilate the basic techniques. \n About John Osborne Hughes \nJohn began his training as an Actor on the Hampshire County Specialist Speech and Drama Course\, where he was awarded a special commendation for best actor. He then trained for a another three years at The Academy of Live and Recorded Arts in London\, and then for a further two years as a Stage Director with teacher Sam Kogan\, in Association with The Moscow Institute of Theatre Arts. \nAfter graduation he worked as an actor and stage director. Productions included the British Premiere of William Mastrosimones\, ‘Cat’s Paw‘\,  ‘Ecstasy‘ by Mike Leigh\, which met with critical acclaim; Time Out’s Critic’s Choice and What’s On saying it was “Quite simply the best ensemble acting seen on the West End stage in years“. \nInspired by this\, he then developed his own company\, Miracle Tree Productions\, for which he wrote\, directed and performed in the hugely successful\, “Beyond Ecstasy”. The show enjoyed sell out runs in both London and Edinburgh\, was Time Out’s and The Guardian’scritic’s choice and won the Creative Freedom Award for best theatrical production. \nIn response to requests from friends and colleagues\, he then launched a training department for Miracle Tree Production and began teaching regular classes and workshops in acting technique and the principles of dramatic art . Grounded by his background in the System of Stanislavski\, he began an in-depth study of the laws of Psychology and Human Zoology\, and endeavoured to explore their application within the context of the art of acting. \nThe system that evolved was then further enriched by the study of Mythology and Philosophy\, in particular the Advaita Vedanta wisdom teaching from the Himalayas\, through which he was introduced to the practice of meditation. This proved to be the master key in helping the actor to develop charisma and stage presence and it was at this point that The Spiritual Psychology Of Acting was born. \nJohn has taught extensively in London\, New York and Los Angeles. He has trained some of the U.K.s brightest actors who have gone on to work in Hollywood\, International feature films\, T.V.\, Royal Shakespeare Company and Royal National Theatre. John’s approach to acting is considered by many to be the cutting edge of actor training available in the world today. \n

SUMMARY:CRS Healing Circle: Prayer\, Sound Meditation + Whirling
DESCRIPTION:CRS invites you to join us for our monthly healing circle (see Japanese announcement below). We gather to meditate\, drum\, sing\, dance\, pray and remember the divine strength within ourselves. This month we welcome Sufi dance artist Rana Gorgani\, founder of “l’Oeil Persan” – The Persian Eye – the first company in Europe devoted to Persian dance\, into our circle to lead us further.\nhttp://www.ranagorgani.com/ \nRana will lead a Sufi community event at CRS on Tuesday\, April 17 at 8 pm. The event is free and donations are welcome at the door. \nWe also support the family of Kenji and Sayoko Williams’ five-year-old daughter\, Amara\, who is growing up with a brain tumor and all the challenges that presents. Our minds will join with Amara’s prayer circle of hundreds of people around the world. \nPlease feel free to bring your frame drum\, rattle\, flute\, whistle\, chimes\, singing bowl\, or other instrument. You don’t need to be experienced. Together\, we will learn to listen to one another and express ourselves and find Oneness of intention. We will begin promptly at 7:30 pm so please arrive by 7:15 pm if you can. \nThe participation fee is $20 with advanced registration and $25 on April 19. \nThrough whirling\, we learn to trust ourselves to go off balance\, to be dizzy\, to surrender control as we give ourselves over to prayer and connect with a greater power\, the still center within\, around which we turn\, that we may share our divine strength and bear witness to the divinity in others. \nAt 4:33am EST this morning of 4/19 our friend the artist Kimi-Tea TsukaDa\, who painted the dervishes shown here\, passed at her home in Los Angeles. In a telephone conversation with Yasuko Kasaki several days ago\, Kimi said that the many people who had to live with pain in the past had come into her awareness and she had told them that she was now living\, accepting\, enduring for them. Her beautiful\, loving mind has uplifted her many friends around the world\, and we will include her in our prayer tonight at 9:30 pm EST during our Healing Circle. Please join us with your mind wherever you are if you are unable to attend in person. The prayer will be led by Yasuko with crystal singing bowl performance by Miyoko Satoh. \nIf you are quiet and in a state of prayer when you Turn\, offering everything of yourself to God\, then when your body is spinning\, there is a completely still point in the center… The heavens respond; and all the invisible kingdoms join in the dance. But the world does not understand. They think we Turn in order to go into some sort of trance. It is true that sometimes we do go into that state you call ecstasy\, but that is only when we know and experience at the same time. We do not Turn for ourselves. We turn around in the way we do so that the Light of God may descend upon the earth. As you act as a conduit in the Turn\, the light comes through the right hand\, and the left hand brings it into this world… We turn for God and for the world\, and it is the most beautiful thing you can imagine. — Mevlevi Shaikh Suleyman Hyatt Dede \nAbout Lale Sayoko \nLale was one of the founding members of Japan’s famous Samanyolu professional bellydance group\, and has since developed her own solo career touring with UK’s Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers on a 44 city tour of the UK\, to Turkey’s Baba Zula\, to New York’s Bella Gaia multimedia Earth from Space journey show. Appearing in Japanese and American magazines and newspapers\, Lale aspires for dance to be a powerful communicator though traditional technique and spiritual embodiment. She has lately been studying Sufi dance with Rana Gorgani.\nhttp://www.lalesayoko.com \nAbout Rana Gorgani \n‘Neither from the East nor from the West’\, Rana Gorgani was born in Germany to an Iranian mother and a Kurdish father. She subsequently grew up in France\, where she still lives today. \nFascinated from an early age by the Persian culture\, Rana was fortunate to grow up in a family very present in the Arts where music and poetry were a constant fixture in her household. \nWhile traveling in Iran\, she was introduced to the Daf instrument\, a large Persian frame drum\, and pursued learning this sacred percussion for the Kurdish Sufi rituals. \nInstinctively\, she became familiar with this spirituality that sounded like an inspiration and reflection of her artistic work. Finally\, at the age of 24\, Rana dedicated herself entirely to dance. \nAfter several years of learning and travelling in and around Iran\, Rana mastered the Iranian dances and the dances of its neighbours. \nIn 2009\, she founded the company “l’Oeil Persan” – The Persian Eye – the first company lead by traditional dances of the Persian world in Europe. \nFurthering her knowledge of dance\, she obtained a Master degree in Anthropology of Dance at the University of Clermont-Ferrand (France)\, and is pursuing research within the Qashqa’i people\, one of the many nomadic tribes of Iran. \nhttp://www.ranagorgani.com/

SUMMARY:Shan.Shui (山水\, Mountain Water): an improvisational concert in six movements
DESCRIPTION:CRS presents Shan.Shui (山水\, Mountain Water)\,  an improvisational concert of music and dance in six movements by cellist JunYi Chow\, shō player Chatori Shimizu\, crystal singing bowl player Miyoko Satoh\, and binbinFactory dance artist Satoshi Haga. \nThe performance is inspired by the paradoxical feelings that arise when viewing paintings in the Shan.Shui landscape tradition of China\, particularly scenes of mountains bathed in clouds. The typically blueish mist suggests the gently flowing waves of a tranquil sea\, and yet the vastness of the mountain ranges also imparts a sense of magnificent solidity. Holding this image and these feelings in their mind\, the performers will seek to transmit them in some way to the audience through six sections of about 10 minutes each: Solo 1 – Solo 2 – Duo – Trio – Quartet – CODA. \nThe concert will take place at CRS on Sunday\, April 22\, 2018 at 7 pm. Tickets are $25 at the door and $20 before 4/22 and are available online\, by phone (212-677-8621)\, and at CRS. Tickets for students with ID are $20 at the door. \nThis concert is part of an informal series of chamber concerts at CRS incorporating meditation as a means of deepening the connection between artists and audience and is the second such concert at CRS involving musicians JunYi Chow and Miyoko Satoh. \nMalaysia-born\, New York-based composer\, multi-instrumentalist and improviser JunYi Chow’s music has been lauded by the Financial Times for its “skilful contrasts in both volume and texture.” His interest in music explores the indefinite possibilities of tone colour and sound\, and features a mixed musical style based on classical contemporary music\, Chinese tunes\, Gamelan music\, minimalism\, and popular music\, amongst other influences. In March 2017\, he received the Grand Prize of Best Orchestra Work by Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra International Composition Competition. He recently presented “Stillness in Queens\,” a collaborative cross-disciplinary work with video artist Karen Y. Chan that was partly funded by the Queens Council On The Arts. He is currently the Composer-In-Residence of Teng Company (Singapore) and Vivo Experimental Orchestra (Malaysia). He graduated from Indiana University and Central Conservatory of Music\, majoring in music composition. http://www.junyichow.com \nSatoshi Haga has been collaborating with Rie Fukuzawa as binbinFactory since 2010. He also collaborates with Jen Shyu\, composer\, vocalist and band leader. Satoshi recently worked for the off-Broadway show\, TBTB production of Charles Ludlam’s “The Artificial Jungle” as Puppet Master. binbinFactory collaborated with TBTB and toured in Japan in 2017. binbinFactory will perform in France in July and will be in residency in Norway in October of 2018.\nhttp://www.binbinfactory.org \nMiyoko Satoh is a Spiritual Healer. She was born and raised in Japan. In her childhood she awakened to her spiritual awareness of the world beyond. In 2001\, she began studying A Course in Miracles and meditation further developing her spiritual awareness at CRS. In 2004\, she began offering spiritual counseling and energy healing work. She also expresses her creativity in different ways such as dancing\, singing and playing Crystal Singing Bowls. She offers private healing sessions\, counseling for relationship\, career etc…..\, and sound healing with crystal singing bowls.\nhttp://miyokosspiritualgarden.com/home.html \nChatori Shimizu is a Berlin based composer\, shō improviser\, and sound artist\, who constructs his works for a wide range of mediums concerning sound and space. Shimizu’s works have been performed and exhibited in concerts and festivals throughout the United States\, Japan\, Europe\, China\, and South East Asia. Shimizu has been awarded fellowships from Columbia University School of the Arts\, Institute of Medieval Japanese Studies\, the Mitsubishi Foundation\, Omi International Arts Center\, Soundstreams\, Toshiba Foundation\, Yaddo\, among others. He holds degrees from Columbia University (MFA in Sound Arts) and Kunitachi College of Music (BA in Computer Music and Composition).\nhttp://www.chatorishimizu.com

SUMMARY:A New Republic of the Heart with Terry Patten
DESCRIPTION:Integral New York is excited to host author and (R)evolutionary Terry Patten\, who will read from and discuss his new book A New Republic of the Heart: An Ethos for Revolutionaries. We hope you’ll join us! \nTerry Patten’s new book\, A New Republic of the Heart: An Ethos for Revolutionaries\, has been called “required reading for all humans over the age of 16”\, and “THE manual for all who want to meet this moment as the historical call to action that it is.” Terry reveals how our personal practice\, and our relationships\, can and must be an effective response to our world’s larger crises\, recognizing “what time it is on the planet”. Wholeness\, he shows\, has potent agency. In our age of fragmentation\, the most subversive act is to practice wholeness — to awaken and embody love and integrity. \nThis groundbreaking book expands the definition of Integral Life Practice and of activism. It synthesizes personal and interpersonal practice with the outer work of service\, politics\, social entrepreneurship and lifestyle transformation. And through a series of powerful new insights it knits integral theory with current events as never before. A breath of fresh air is reinvigorating integral evolutionary culture by making obvious how a more integral consciousness must rise\, and is rising\, to meet the challenge of our political and ecological emergencies. During the evening\, Terry will give a short talk\, facilitate small group conversations\, and engage questions and answers about the issues of our times. \nTickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.\nFor tickets visit: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/a-new-republic-of-the-heart-with-terry-patten-tickets-43914954812

SUMMARY:Awakening the Third Eye
DESCRIPTION:Meditation Training for Modern Times \nWelcome! You are here because you want to learn how to meditate. The benefits of meditation are innumerable. However\, learning how to do it is another thing altogether. \nAwakening the Third Eye (ATE) workshop is the foundational course of meditation of the Clairvision School of Meditation. It’s core focus is to give you hands on training to be used in your life anytime and anywhere. This is for people of ALL walks of life. No dogma. Simply techniques. \nThis workshop unfolds a systematic method of developing the third eye and making it a resting place for daily meditation and perception in daily life. The third eye\, a subtle body organ\, is the foundation for a direct experience of deeper states of consciousness\, and for cultivating and managing your energy. \nWe will also learn how to have “super sleep” and practice awareness which helps bring clarity throughout the day. These are just a few of the many tools you can begin to use in your daily life and meditation practice. \nWe look forward to meeting you! \nList of skills you will learn during the Workshop \nTime:\nApril 28th and 29th. 10am-5pm both days. \nCost:\n\nRegular price: $260\nEarly bird special: $220 if paid by April 8\, 2018\nStudents with student ID: $220\nRefresher: $200\n\nThe Clairvision School and this workshop are not-for-profit. \n\nCaitlin Reidy\, Ashish Parikh\, Bryce Kennedy\nOrganizer of Awakening the Third Eye Meditation Workshop \n\n\n\n\n\nCaitlin Reidy has been practicing meditation and personal transformation for 15 years with the Clairvision School. During that time\, she had phases of instructing in Sydney and the retreat properties in Australia and the United States. Caitlin has a full time job in technology communications\, based out of New York City. Her passion lies in exploring consciousness and applying meditation techniques to a corporate environment. \nAshish Parikh was first introduced to meditation 11 years ago and has been hooked ever since\, exploring many different styles and traditions. In his professional life\, he runs business development for a hardware design firm\, and spent much of his career as a consultant at McKinsey & Co. \nBryce Kennedy was a former corporate attorney who was over stressed and over worked. At wits end he decided to try this “hippy meditation nonsense\,” and has never looked back. He left law to pursue personal development and create a business bringing a practical approach of transformation for high achievers and over thinkers.

SUMMARY:Sound Meditation Concert with Kana Kamitsubo Markovic
DESCRIPTION:CRS invites you to an intimate afternoon of music and meditation with concert pianist\, music therapist and Hug Music Founder Kana Kamitsubo Markovic and CRS co-Founder Christopher Pelham. Kana magically weaves our visualizations into her music\, improvisationally creating rich tapestries of sounds with emotional depth and breadth to compliment her own haunting compositions. Participants are welcome to lay down\, mediate\, dance\, sing\, play music along with Kana’s improvisation. The purpose of this event is for you to connect with yourself and listen to what “it” wants to say. \nIn Kana’s work\, listening and playing\, process and performance are one. Exquisitely attuning herself to the conversation between her deepest impulses and our own\, she allows her spirit to translate this dance of giving and receiving into music in which we can all recognize ourselves. \nThe event will take place on Sunday\, April 29\, 2018 from 1 – 2:30 pm. Tickets are $35 at the door and $30 through 4/28 and are available online\, by phone (212-677-8621)\, and at the door. Participation will be limited to 15. \nhttp://www.hugmusicny.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/kana-impro-twinkle-spider-oyasumi.mp3\nKana Kamitsubo is a pianist trained in classical & jazz\, a board-certified music therapist\, as well as a founder/owner of Hug Music\, a music school located in Queens. She began her piano study by the age of three. During her childhood\, she spent most of the time playing her piano by improvising and composing. Her favorite thing was to reflect the energy around her (energy of her home\, family\, people who visited her) on her improvisation and she would improvise endlessly without knowing it was a very special talent she was given. As her piano study became more serious\, she stopped playing freely but started to focus on “what others would think is good” by following her piano teachers’ advise. At 19 years old\, she felt extremely detached from music and struggled. \nThen\, she decided to study jazz piano. At 20 years old\, she met her piano teacher\, Takeshi\, who told her\, “Listen to the music inside of you first\, and strike the keys to play the melody you just heard.” He taught the importance of being authentic in the music and following where the music wants to go instead of thinking what to play. In order to fully understand his words and also master this\, Kana started to record herself at every single opportunity (practicing\, rehearsal\, performances)\, listening to the recordings\, and taking notes on what she was feeling/thinking when she played and how it affected her music. After years of doing this practice\, she has concluded that when ego takes over\, the music loses its life; when she listens to the spirit and plays music with it\, the music spreads love and she is able to connect with others. This has become her philosophy as a musician. \nAt age 25\, she was awarded a Berklee World Scholarship and moved to Boston to further study piano performance and music therapy. There\, her approach was validated when\, as a music therapy student\, she began working with individuals with disabilities. She cultivated her clinical skills based on her philosophy and was recognized by Berklee College of Music for demonstrating extraordinary therapeutic musical skills. As a result\, she received numerous awards\, and afterward was hired by Berklee to help develop their “Clinical Music Improvisation” curriculum. \nAs a licensed clinician\, she has worked with diverse populations including children with special needs and has developed her own method that has been proven to be effective for children with autism spectrum disorder. While she works as an active music therapist\, she also composes and performs with her husband as an acoustic duo unit called Yagull. The past few years\, Kana started to study A Course in Miracles (ACIM) with Yasuko Kasaki and Naoko Ono. Kana has discovered that the process of improvising (listening to the music inside of her mind and then striking the keys to play the music she heard) mirrors ACIM’s direction to listen to our inner voice. \nCRS Founder Yasuko Kasaki strongly advised Kana to perform for others more actively. Kana further cultivates her spirituality and musicality and realized that creating music with others (by reflecting the energy around her) is a very special ability she has been given. Now Kana knows that she wants to devote her life to sharing it. \nhttp://www.hugmusicny.com \nhttp://www.yagull.com

SUMMARY:Concert: J-Pop Star Naomi Suzuki & Rakugo Artist Ken Saito
DESCRIPTION:Mar Creation\, Inc. & London-based J-Pop Star Naomi Suzuki invite you to an Eastern Japan Great Earthquake Disaster Charity Concert. Naomi will sing Japanese Showa era songs arranged in a jazzy style and backed by a four piece band from the NY community: Oda Mura (guitar)\, Noa McNeill (piano)\, Yousuke Yosuke (drum)\, and Yamada Yoshiki (base). Rakugo (Japanese comedic storytelling) artist Ken Saito\, who is now preparing a show for Broadway debut in 2019\, will also perform (in Japanese). Attendees are asked to make a suggested cash donation of $20 at the door. Proceeds will go to the non-profit organization Rainbow Bridge World Project. \nSinger/Actress/Presenter Naomi Suzuki was scouted and brought to the UK by Polygram records in the late 90’s and since then has embarked on projects of both critical and commercial success. She reached number 12 in the UK singles charts and is active as a member of musical duo AJ Unity and solo songwriter as well as a prolific performer for charity events. Her single “Our Song”\, recorded for the victims of the 2011 Japanese tsunami was produced with Grammy award-winning Andy Wright\, who had previously worked with acts such as Bon Jovi and David Bowie. https://www.naomisuzuki.co.uk \nNaomi also has an impressive acting repertoire and has experience with acting in both British drama and European commercials\, one of her more notable roles alongside actor Hugh Grant. She also found herself the subject of a BBC documentary in the late 90’s and has been featured in numerous news and magazine articles. \nNaomi also became the first Japanese singer to perform at the Houses of Parliment where she gave a rousing performance on 5th March 2015 at the Memorial Concert for Japan Earthquake and Tsunami. The concert\, which marked the 4th anniversary of the disaster\, was a great success drawing attention from the Japanese press and media. \n\nHaving chaired the largest Japanese festival in the UK\, Japan Matsuri\, for 4 years\, Naomi is also a reputable events host and has worked with Matsutake Kabuki and NHK broadcasting amongst others. She is also part of the PR team for her hometown of Tagawa\, Fukuoka Prefecture alongside cartoon mascot Taga-tan. \nAs a presenter\, Naomi is most well known for her show “Naomi’s London Calling” where she mainly presents about life in London as well as broadcasting support for the Japan tsunami victims. She has also presented the London edition of the popular Japanese radio show “Grown Up European City Walks” alongside ex Fuji TV star Chinatsu Otsubo. \nAt the time of the Japanese tsunami disaster in 2011 Naomi was in very ill health but after hearing of the disaster victims’ plight she was able to overcome her condition and resume activities with renewed vigor. Not only did she release a new double A-side charity single\, whose proceeds went to the disaster area\, but also wrote the song “Home” together with disaster victims so that their feelings could be heard by the World. \nAs well as performing for charity at the Sendai Street Jazz Festival and Totteoki music festival\, both of which attract hundreds of thousands of visitors each\, Naomi also organised charity gigs alongside fellow performers and backing musicians from Japan. She is particularly concerned for the welfare of the scores of orphans and disadvantaged children left behind by the disaster and works with numerous NPO’s. \nIn 2016 Naomi organised and performed at the 5th Japan Earthquake Memorial Concert held at the Islington Assemble Hall London and personally handed over all donations to affected areas in Japan. Following this Naomi toured Japan and donated all profits from ticket sales to the cause. This event was covered in all major newspapers in Japan and was also reported on NHK TV.

SUMMARY:Exhibition: One Art One Spirit
DESCRIPTION:CRS presents “One Art One Spirit (一音一絵)\,” a group exhibition of photography by Chakkiri\, pastel paintings by Sakurako Kataoka\, salt paintings by Senko Nishimura\, and recycled fiber art by Saco Yasuma. The exhibition will open on May 11\, 2018 with a concert by Kevin Nathanial and Tomchess and post-concert reception and will be on view until June 6\, 2018. There will also be a Reception and musical concert with the artists\, including a duet by Chakkiri and Sakurako\, on June 4\, 2018 from 7 – 9 pm following the USAATO natural clothing exhibition that afternoon. \nONE ART ONE SPIRIT ARTIST STATEMENT \nThere is an artist in everyone. Everyone is an artist! We just need to feel safe and brave enough to give ourselves permission to access and share our creativity. \nBe Inspired\, Be Creative\, Accept Ourselves\, and Enjoy! \nThis is an unusual art exhibition for CRS because none of the participating artists are so-called “Professional Visual Artists.” \nWe wanted more people to change their mindset and free themselves of limitations to wake up the artists within them since it is FUN and good for our hearts. We kept experiencing that when we are genuinely enjoying what we love\, a ripple of happiness spreads and bcomes amplified. So we have decided to show our art in public as it is. \nAt the reception\, One Note One Spirit\, our sister group\, will create a fun and safe space for everyone who attends to play music. We hope this show will encourage people to be creative and happy by enjoying making art and music! \n

Multi-instrumental artists and pioneers of the global music scene in NYC\, Kevin Nathaniel and Tomchess together create an endless variety of unique and beautiful sounds and musical landscapes layered with many rhythms\, textures\, and melodies. Listening through the sounds they create\, one can hear the echoes of our global village and beyond. \nTickets are $15 cash at the door\, $10 with valid student ID. \nKevin Nathaniel and Tomchess walk the border between music medicine and mysticism. Weaving a musical tapestry of the beautiful sounds of Mbira (African thumb piano)\, Oud (near eastern lute)\, Ney (sufi flute)\, and Morsing (Indian jaw harp)\, they lead their audience on a deep listening journey from the relaxing\, healing\, meditative and introspective to the celebratory pulse of dance. It’s music to heal planet Earth and all who inhabit her.
