SUMMARY:Meditation\, Spiritual Healing\, and Brain Activity Feedback
DESCRIPTION:Finally\, we are able to welcome you back in person for guided meditation and spiritual healing with CRS founder Yasuko Kasaki and CRS healers! And we have a special guest with us this time\, visiting artist-in-residence Hyo Jee Kang of South Korea\, who has been conducting research into the effects of creativity and meditation on brain activity. \nSpace is limited. She will let you know if there is still space. \nBring any issue you are facing right now — physically\, emotionally\, mentally\, and/or spiritually. With eyes closed (you will be seated and a healer will stand nearby; no touching is involved)\, a CRS healer\, trained in A Course in Miracles and spiritual reading/healing\, will observe you with her inner sight\, free of any judgments\, as your truly are\, a perfect shining spirit. Together\, we will ask the Holy Spirit (or Inner Guide if you prefer) to bring us directly to whatever seed thought is causing your current issues and ask for guidance about how your spirit really wants to make use of your present situation for its growth and sharing of love. After about 5 – 10 minutes of meditation\, we will share the inspirational guidance that we receive. \nHyo Jee — a Seoul-based concert pianist\, composer\, and conceptual artist whose concert LOOKING-MIND we will present the following day\, July 24 at 7pm at Greenwich House Music School — will be demonstrating a piece of technology called the NIRSIT Lite — a portable fNIRS device developed by Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology (KAIST) Professor Hyunmin Bae and produced by OBE Lab — that measures the activation level of hemoglobin in the prefrontal cortex of the brain. The measured brain activity is graphically presented in real time via video projection. You will have the opportunity to see a visual presentation of brain activity before and after meditation and healing! \nHyo Jee will also give a brief explanation of how the technology works and what they have learned so far. However\, for the most part\, we will share healing quietly and provide you with an opportunity to come to rest\, reflect\, and remember who you truly are\, in a supportive\, non-judgmental\, meditative environment. Then you will find that rather than needing “solutions” to “problems” you will realize that you have no problems except those that you project. \nWe call this spiritual healing but it is not religious nor connected with any church or group. It is simply a practice of meditating together on our true nature and connecting with universal spirit/energy or what you will. \nA Note About the Role of Words in Healing: “Strictly speaking\, words play no part at all in healing. DESCRIPTION:CRS (Center for Remembering & Sharing) presents DERELICT PORTENT\, a solo music and multimedia concert by Jay Afrisando. Also on the bill are gamin (Korean winds) and Okvan Pramudya (percussion). Derelict Portent showcases Jay Afrisando’s works in music composition and multimedia arts aimed to raise the awareness of aural diversity (diversity of hearing profiles)\, acoustic ecology\, and everyday wonders often neglected.Through multisensory approaches\, Jay invites us to rethink our co-existence with other human beings\, other living beings\, and the whole universe. His solo concert will show his interdisciplinary approaches\, including improvised and collaborative compositions\, participatory piece\, field recording work\, and experimental films. \nThis event is supported in part by Jerome Foundation through Jerome Hill Artist Fellowship 2021-2022. \n \nTickets are $20 and are available online through eventbrite.com and at the door for cash only\, if not sold out. Conceived of during the pandemic by the renowned Korean traditional multi-instrumentalist\, curator\, and scholar gamin\, Paradise Laboratory provides musical artists with opportunities to rehearse\, record\, film\, and perform with other musical\, visual\, and dance artists in an experimental\, process-oriented\, and artist-centered fashion. \nABOUT THE ARTISTS \nJay Afrisando is an award-winning multimedia artist\, music composer\, researcher\, and educator. Employing multisensory approaches\, he shares awareness of aural diversity\, acoustic ecology\, and everyday technological interactions. His works invite others to (re)examine our notions of living entities\, ecosystems\, and technology. He challenges conventional artistic disciplines and boundaries using various approaches\, including video\, spatial audio\, fixed media\, improvisation\, and various collaborative methods.  \nHe is a Jerome Hill Artist Fellow 2021-22. He also received the Ambassador’s Award for Excellence 2019 by the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia for the United States and the 2016 Minnesota Emerging Composer Award by the American Composers Forum. In Yogyakarta\, he formed a band called Airbatu and released an album with the band. Besides\, he also joined Solo Big Band\, Jay & Gatra Wardaya\, and Aditya Ong Trio as drummer.
