Creating Awareness of the Role of Yoga in Eating Disorder Recovery: A Training for Yoga Teachers and Mental Health Professionals
January 26, 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm EST$150
More and more, therapists, dieticians, physicians, coaches, yoga therapists, and yoga teachers are interested in including yoga in their treatment plans with eating disorder clients, which is wonderful and exciting—as this trend reinforces the growing recognition of yoga’s powerfully healing role in the recovery process and human experience. But how to bring yoga to this client population while creating safety is not a required skill set taught in traditional yoga teacher trainings.
If you are a yoga teacher and/or mental health professional and wish to increase your awareness of how yoga supports eating disorder recovery, we invite you to join us for a very unique 3-hour training that combines a vibrant mix of discussion, reflection, and simple yoga practices that you can immediately apply in your life and work.
In this 3-hour training you will:
Receive education on what yoga teachers and mental health professionals need to know about the benefits of yoga and tips for what kinds of yoga styles and classes best support eating disorder recovery
Discover how to create physical and emotional safety when guiding movement, breathing, and meditation practices in the private and group settings
Explore and practice the “body mindful” communication skill of “guiding versus prescribing” so that students/clients have the space and opportunity to be curious about their own unique embodied experiences
Experience a “Body Mindful Yoga” practice to reflect on your own relationship with your body
Share in supportive discussion on these topics
