Darshan with Satya Prem

1. Who is Satyaprem?

Born in Brazil. He studied journalism, devoted himself to photography, painting and poetry. In the early 80’s he had his first contact with Master Osho, from whom he received his name Satyaprem. For about twenty years, he was dedicated to work with therapy and meditation, acting as part of the team of therapists of Osho Multiversity International. In 2000, the path of therapy ceased, when it was definitively revealed, the end of the search, what the sages often call “Enlightenment.” Since then, Satyaprem invokes the awakening of people to their original nature through encounters and retreats. In addition to the talks and retreats, today they add twelve his books. The first one entitled “PA”, published in 1983, edited by Paulo Coelho, and the most recent “Diálogos sobre o invisivel” and “Transmisâo Especial – O eloquente discurso do Silêncio”, published in 2015 and 2016 respectively.

Satyaprem means “Love for Truth”. It is a unique individual, magnetic, direct … of deep, cosmic, abysmal gaze could be said. Whoever looks into his eyes runs the risk of seeing himself and meeting forever.

“There is no drop, everything is Ocean”
~ Satyaprem.

2. What is Satsang?

Satsang is a Sanskrit word and literally means encounter with Truth. Sat is true and sang is communion, it is closeness, it is unity. It is to be at the feet of the Truth. So what happens in Satsang is that people are invited to put their minds aside and look inward. This is where many people get confused, they think they are going to meet Satyaprem. But in true satsang, you will not find Satyaprem. Satyaprem is going to be just a bridge to find yourself. That means Satsang, to meet oneself.

“And if Silence were you and not the place where you should be?”
~ Satyaprem.

3. What is Darshan with Satyaprem?

Satyaprem dedicates his life to open our eyes to who we truly are. His work has always been based on the following question: “Who are you?”. However, that is not a question, there is no intellectual response to such questioning. This is an existential question, and for more answers than your mind can generate, you can only find some meaning to it, through a “vision”.

Darshan means “seeing.” This meeting occurs without the intervention of thought. He who “sees”, who is awake, leads us to the direct experience of that which we are subsequently, the experience of Truth. Concepts and beliefs do not bring the Truth.

Darshan represents the original. Literally, it means “meeting with the holy” – this is the name given to the meetings between the master and his followers, in which master and disciple dialogue in a relaxed way.

You only think when you can not see. If you can see, there is no reason to think. Thinking is always ignorance.
Thinking is not knowledge, because when you know, there is no need to think.

Darshan means seeing, reaching the vision, perceiving, knowing – immediately, directly, without the mediation of thinking or thought.
Going beyond the curiosity of the intellect, we are facing the possibility of seeing. That’s DARSHAN!

4. What is the work of Satyaprem?

Who are you? It is the main focus of Satyaprem’s work. Through an apparent conversation, he will lead us to the inquiry of questions that, without proper inquiry, are absorbed as truth and govern a limited life, responsible for the state of frustration in which mankind finds itself. Since 2000, Satyaprem has carried out a disturbing and provocative work, exploring – in practice, not in theory – Socratic method or maieutics, the process of self-inquiry of Ramana Maharshi and Zen. Its initial proposal is the investigation of certain misunderstandings that prevent us from recognizing who we really are. As a consequence, finally, one has the “direct experience”, the so-called “zero point” – in quantum terms. Among the primordial deceptions is the very idea that meditation is something spiritual and non-scientific, restricted to few “seekers” and “alternative people”. The work of Satyaprem has attracted countless people from all over the world to the meetings called “Satsang”, from Sanskrit, “Meeting with the Truth”.

“If you are not the one who thinks, what does it matter what the one who thinks is thinking?”
~ Satyaprem

5. Who is it aimed at?

The work of Master Satyaprem is an experience addressed to the whole world. It is not necessary to have any previous experience or knowledge of meditation, to have done yoga before, or to have been in any spiritual discipline … In Satyaprem’s words “There is no condition, everyone is welcome. We start from zero and go to Zero”.

“Unless you know who you are, nothing will satisfy you”
~ Satyaprem
