A 6 week series for reflection through art making in a supportive environmentwith Artist Sarah Valeri, LCAT, ATR-BC
Tuesdays from 8 – 9:30 pm
Feb 12 – March 19, 2013
Knowing how you can create a sense of wellness, calm or challenge for yourself with creative work can be a big help in channeling your strengths and transforming difficulties. This group will offer different open-ended arts experiences with new, simple materials each week, so that we can consider what kind of creative work brings us out of our shell or offers shelter when we need it.
Sarah Valeri, LCAT, ATR-BC is an artist and art therapist living and working in New York City. As she has always found a path to meaning and change through creative work, she hopes to provide a space for this experience for others.
RSVP Required contact Sarah Valeri at sarahreneevaleri@gmail.com
Please wear something comfortable!
Your presence is a creative influence of its own; please be respectful of others.
There is a $35 fee per session. Payment can be made in person.
Weekly Topics
Feb 12
Opening and Defining Space
We’ll use some simple movement warm ups and develop small installations and constructions.
Feb 19
Patterns and Variations
We’ll use some movement, sound and work in repetitions and variations, either through drawing or collage.
Feb 26
Music and Movement
I often draw in accompaniment with live music and it’s a different experience to allow you to be moved. We’ll be joined by an incredible acoustic guitarist, Khaled Dajani so we can let ourselves loose!
March 5
Collage and Constructions
Sometimes deconstruction can provide it’s own creative potential. We’ll use collage or recycled materials, but feel free to bring something from home that you want to take apart.
March 12
Creating Symbols
A little personal time to come up with our own visual stories. You may surprise yourself.
March 19
Keeping Artwork or Letting It Go
In this group we can consider different ways to share, keep or let go of work when it’s done.
