Japan ♥️ Korea Songs for Peace Concert

CRS (Center for Remembering & Sharing) in association with Mar Creation and Noontan Music invite you to Japan ♥️ Korea Songs for Peace, an evening of mostly acoustic music by the always warm and engaging Rino (vocals and sanshin, Japan), Lucite Tokki (synth-pop duo, Korea), and Asuca Hayashi (J-pop and R&B star, Japan, with a big voice like Celine Dion) backed by keyboard wizard Romi Abe of Sony Records.

The concert will take place on Friday, June 7, 2019 at 7:30 pm at CRS. Tickets are $20 and are available online, by phone (212-677-8621), and at CRS.

Born and raised in Osaka, Japan, Asuca Hayashi became a performer after her piano teacher sent a tape of her singing to a music producer. Impressed with Hayashi’s talent, a representative of Toshiba EMI’s Southeast Asia Division released her debut single “ake-kaze” when she was just 13 years old. Her debut album, called “Saku” (咲), was released on the same day in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Mainland China. She has gained fans throughout Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the United States. Her hit song, titled “Chiisaki Mono” or “Make a Wish” (English Version), was used in the sixth Pokémon movie, “ Wishmaker” (Japanese: Nanayo no Negai Boshi; literally “Wishing Star of Seven Nights”). In June 2012, she made her acting debut in “Hakurai Joto. Doudekka,” a stage play created to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Yoshimoto Kogyo, one of Japan’s most popular entertainment productions. In March 2013, she appeared in another play titled, “Korekara mo Yoroshiku,” also produced by Yoshimoto Kogyo. In July 2017, she recorded and released a new single, “Pokemon ni Kimeta!,” the ending theme for the latest Pokemon movie. Asuca’s other notable songs include “Hitotsubu no Tane Love the Earth”, “Snowdrop”, “Jibun Shinjite” and “Mou Ichido Anata ni Aitai.” Hayashi has since recorded in both Japanese and Chinese, collaborating with Chinese instrumentalist Chen Min on the single, “Tsubane ni Naritai.”

Lucite Tokki is a New York-based alt-pop duo formed in Seoul 2005. Over a decade later, they have released four full albums and six EPs growing their audience worldwide. Their cheerful melodies, smooth synth-based textures, and warm vocals are the perfect pick-me-up for a rainy day. In this show, they’ll treat us to a rare acoustic performance! https://lucite-tokki.org

Rino (vocals and sanshin) is a performer of drama and music, particularly for peace. She learned drama at the United Performer’s Studio, led by Yoko Narahashi, and studied traditional folk songs from Ryushu Kubota of Japan Folk Song Association.
