Life Is Art Is Motherhood Is Art Tokyo Artist Talk & Reception

Please join us for a reception for the Life Is Art Is Motherhood Is Art exhibition on May 10, 2026, from 3 – 5 pm at Le Déco Gallery in Shibuya, Tokyo. Light refreshments will be served. During the reception, from 3:30 – 4:30 pm, there will be a conversation in Japanese with exhibition artist Satomi Shirai and curator Christopher Pelham about some of the exhibition’s core themes. Due to unforeseen events, PGI Director Sayaka Takahashi, who was previously scheduled to moderate the discussion, will be unable to join us. Reframing “motherhood” as a lived threshold—emerging between the private and the public, child-rearing and self-care, the body and the environment—the conversation will consider how parenting can be understood as a creative path.
You can learn more about the exhibition, which was first shown last year in New York City and then earlier this spring as a Pick Up exhibition of Kyotographie KG+, here.
