September 26, 2016 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm EDT

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 3:00 pm on Monday, repeating until November 21, 2016

Instructor Karla Jackson-Brewer, MS

The NYC Tara Mandala Sangha is pleased to offer an 8-week series exploring the concept of the mandala principle, and the expression of the divine feminine in Vajrayana Buddhism.  Lama Tsultrim Allione has developed this teaching and practice to bring transformational personal work into the container of spiritual practice.

In this series you will be introduced to the five Wisdom Dakinis.  Dakinis are female wisdom beings. They represent our ability to give birth to, embody and live our full range of potentialities. The term Dakini is Sanskrit.  It’s Tibetan equivalent Khadro means “one who moves through space”.

We will identify how our own obstructed, negative patterns of confusion, anger, pride, craving, and envy manifest in our daily lives and then have an opportunity to transform them into their corresponding wisdom expression.   By connecting with the Dakinis you will learn how to have these energies as a resource in your everyday life. The series will involve guided meditation, art, sound, and some movement.  The series culminates with the transmission of the 5 Wisdom Dakini Mandala practice, as developed by Lama Tsultrim Allione.

Instructor Karla Jackson-Brewer, MS has been a student of Lama Tsultrim Allione for 25 years. She is a Tara Mandala Authorized Teacher, and has traveled with Lama Tsultrim on Pilgrimage to Tibet & Bali. Karla has been practicing Chöd for 24 years and has assisted Lama Tsultrim on many Chöd Retreats. For the past 2 years she has taught the Chöd at Tara Mandala with Chandra Easton, another Tara Mandala Authorized Teacher. This October, she received the Chöd Empowerment from His Holiness the 17th Karmapa, Orgyen Trinley Dorje.
