Born and raised in Nagano Prefecture in Japan, Takei worked as an architect in Tokyo for nine years. Takei has been living and working in New York City since 1997. She majored in Photography at the School of Visual Arts and then studied oil painting and drawing at the National Academy of Arts. She was noted for the excellence in her creative works and awarded with major scholarships by the Department of Culture and the Paula Foundation for Arts and Culture in Japan.
Ms. Takei has exhibited her paintings at the National Academy School of Fine Arts, the Coark Gallery, and the School of Visual Arts. She has had solo exhibitions at the Modus Vivendi Gallery and the Kodama Gallery, both in New York.
