This Friday night, November 11, 2011 at 8 pm, we’d like to invite you to a short and informal butoh dance performance at CRS. It is the culmination of the Fall 2011 Company SoGoNo Butoh Workshop student performance. The piece, choreographed by Company SoGoNo artistic director Tanya Calamoneri and butoh artist Mariko Reynolds, is based on one of Hjikata’s butoh Fu choreographies and interpreted it their own way. Its title, “Nadare Ame NY,” can be translated literally as “avalanche of rain or candy New York.”
It’s not every day that you get a chance to see people channeling peacocks in a tremendous rain storm! There will be an opportunity afterward to ask them questions about the work. Please come by and support them!
The piece will be performed by workshop participants Anthony Austin, Pele Bauch, Janna Benitez, Laura Bernstein, Jennifer Murray, and Kevin Slesinsky.
There is a suggested donation of $5.
The next workshop is scheduled to begin in February 2012. Check back for details!
